*offical fire gentry thread*

Post#1 » by elly23 » Wed Jan 27, 2010 4:51 am

gentry gives me too many reasons to make this thread. hes is horrible, lets talk about how bad of a job hes doing in this thread

gentry left jrich in the game while he shot 2-12 and 1-6 from 3.

amare touched the ball 2 times in overtime. gentry is the coach he should set up a play for our best player. he got the ball with time running out and he got the ball in a non scoring position i.e. 3 point line

bad rotations

gentry should've called a better play at the end of the 4th quater.

gentry left the second unit out there until the 5 min mark of the 4th.

He's made some mistakes, but it's not his fault that his GM/Owner have given him a decrepit roster.

I've been questioning some of his decision-making/playcalling late in games as well as some of the rotation he's been doing. But he's been around the league and around the Suns for so long, is a consummate professional and has a good rapport with the guys - I don't think you can make a case for firing him until he is given a contending roster and screws something up with it. Even then, I'd like to see him stay on in some capacity.

It is some of his fault. Although I really like how he help Goran gain confidence. I'd give him until the end of the year. But he really blew these last two games, down the stretch. I am still trying to figure out why JRich finished that game. Does he have some pictures of Gentry doing something bad? When he goes to collect his paycheck, does he where a ski mask and carry a gun?

Give Gentry some time. late game plays and teaching execution in those situations is probably the most difficult thing for a coach to get right, It takes time.

Uh... No. I like Gentry. I think he needs to figure out how long he can play his bench before they start losing it. Also it's not his fault his players are slumping/not giving effort. He almost has the right formula, but his pieces aren't working properly.

EDIT: I also think that he would be a great coach to have while rebuilding. Look what he has done for Lopez and Dragic.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

Then name some? Some real legit reasons. Don't start a thread without substance..ugh.

He's fine, ever take into consideration how the team is reacting to all the trade talks? I'd sure bum me out..

Hey can't blame Gentry, he's getting paid and he's getting laid. He knows his job is to be the scapegoat and this is Nash's team, Nash is the coach, Nash decides on who stays or who goes, etc. I don't feel bad for Gentry one bit because he knows what he got into.

Gentry is bad but he is coaching what we have, still don't know why Lopez is on the bench all the time when he is playing good and Clark can't get any PT.

Our offense is horribly static also.

I've always been puzzled by Gentry's substitutions even when we were winning. Dantoni also ran a couple of good plays in the half court but it seems all we run now are multiple pick and rolls over and over. It's beginning to become a problem.

I think the problem is with Gentry, but only because he plays J-Rich in bad situations, and plays Earl Clark at all. We need to either A) Talk to Gentry about his rotations or B) Trade JRich and EC.
The Phoenix Suns - 54-28. Projected Record: 54-28 3rd Seed

The Phoenix Suns - 2010-2011 Projected Record: 30-52 3rd lottery pick.

anytime jrich is in the game it instantly becomes a bad situation. why in the world did gentry play jrich in overtime when he went 2-11???????? dragic just came off the game of his life and we sit him?????? i cant believe this. i might add amare two touches

I don't think we should fire him. Replace him imo and move him back down to an assistant coach. Pull a Cleveland where they pretty much have their head coach as a defensive specialist and assistant coaches for offense.

Amare didnt even touch the ball once in the 4th on offense after scoring 10 in the 3rd.

we were counting how many times would touch the ball in over time in the chatroom. he touched the ball twice! one time up top and not anywhere near scoring position. so i might not even call that a touch. the next touch was when they gave him the ball with the shot clock going down so he had to shoot a bad shot.

i was wondering how many times he touched the ball in the 4th. i knew the starters stay out until the 5 minute mark of the 4th. i didnt know he did not touch the ball at all in the 4th. i cant believe this coaching .........

Gentry makes some interesting decisions but for this team, he's fine. We can't just keep playing musical coaches. How does anyone expect to establish any consistency if we do?
