That would be nice ... but would hardly solve the Jazz money problem. Another deal would have to be made to dump a bunch o salary elsewhere. A trade to get Haywood that involved Okur would be a better option.

Having watched Amare (and other bug dudes...) playing a bunch of games this season amd knowing dude will sign a huge extension somewhere... I'll tell you.... Okur's not bad at all... even in a little bit of a slump....

David Locke proposed that idea to KOC on his radio show before the Suns game.

I don't know how much merit it has to it.

Locke stated that if the Jazz brass felt they only needed a solidified backup center to put them over the top, that Haywood is the only guy out there.

He also mentioned that the Wizards were not willing to do it for salary relief only.

There's nothing to this. The Wiz have already said that they "aren't moving Haywood", which as we all know could just as likely mean "We are moving Haywood'. But simply for cap relief? I don't see it. However if we take Butler off their hands I'm sure we could get Haywood too. Boozer for Butler and Haywood has been many Jazz fans wet dreams.

A trade exception is created when you trade away a player and do not recieve back the same amount of salary.

If you trade away a 10 million dollar player to a team under the cap for a 5 million dollar player you now have a 5 million dollar trade exception that can be used like a player with a 5 million dollar salary. The thing is you can't combine these exceptions.

Locke has discussed using the trade exceptions a fair number of times in recent weeks as now that the team is playing better he doesn't see them trading key players. Soo......if you look around the league at who they may be able to get with a trade exception (where other players cannot be included and the player can only make Harpring's salary), Haywood is the only "desirable" player out there. Now that Arenas is suspended for the rest of the year, speculation is the Wizards may want to dump salary to reduce luxury tax liability. But all this is speculation.

I didn't see a general trade thread, so I figured I would bring it up here. What about Mike Miller in a Jazz uniform? He seems like the ideal player to fit Sloan's system w/ his above average passing, B-Ball IQ, and his shooting touch is something Utah could use. Korver & Miles for Mike Miller as the base of a deal?

i honestly don't see how miller differentiates himself from korver. at this point i'd rather hold on to kyle.

Looking at the wiretap, Wizards are funny.

They expect to not get full value for their trades but they want both Rudy and Batum for Haywood. Doesn't make sense to me much.

Really? Well Mike Miller is more than just a shooter if you haven't noticed. Through his career he has shown the ability to take over games w/ his shooting touch, while also doing work on the boards and making the extra pass. Korver's career season high for rebounding is 4.6, which is well in the past for him while Mike Miller has been well over 5 rpg the last 5 season and 3.5-4.5 apg he has also been putting up. Mike Miller is very comparable to a Jeff Hornacek, definitely more athletic than Horny was IMO. Miller is also a veteran that will help in road games, rather than fade ala majority of the team. Check this link, it's comparison of Hornacek and Miller for both of their careers up to Miller's current age of 29. This also works a bit since Miller is expiring, and doesn't lock down cap space like a Rip Hamilton or a few others that have been brought up.

I don't blame the Wiz. You don't salary dump without a concise plan for the future. They need time to sort that out. It's too easy for rash decisions to propel you into a decade long hole of no escape.

9-men rotation: Deron - Miller - AK - Boozer - Haywood starting with Price, Brewer, Matthews and Millsap coming off the bench. I'd like that.
