Mark Spears CSNE

Post#1 » by Celts17Pride » Thu Jan 28, 2010 12:25 am

Mark Spears said on CSNE that he is hearing that the Celtics are looking for a combo guard (1,2,3) to provide scoring off the bench.

Golden State not looking to move Ellis. Monta Ellis, Curry and Morrow are untouchable. Golden State would move other salaries. If Celtics wanted Ellis they would have to give up Pierce or most likely Rondo.

That's what I heard, don't know if someone heard differently.

This should put to end the Monta Ellis rumors.

The un-touchable list includes three players less than 6'6 is really strange for me.

Boston could wait for a veteran to be bought out by his current team and Sheridan listed Keyon Dooling, T.J. Ford, Mark Blount, Tony Battie, Jarvis Hayes, Trenton Hassell as potential fits.

Of that bunch, TJ would be a great addition!
Blount? arghhhhh!

BTW, I'd add Ricky Davis to that bunch after the last game :D

If the warriors owners are really trying to sell the team, all the big contract players are available, IMO. I have no doubt Monta can be had for the right deal...

So I guess this is the end of the Paul Pierce era in Boston...

I didn't hear the comments but I mean the fact that GS doesn't want to unload a guy scoring 26 a game for expirings is not exactly shocking. They want something for Monta Ellis, the question come the deadline is that something moving out Maggette's money as well is what remains to be seen. It isn't something Boston is going to pursue it is something Warrior ownership is going to pursue.

I want exactly what they want that is what this team is missing and have since it was built. Ford in theory would be great. He has played very well off the bench for the Pacers but you have to think if Ford was willing to split the difference with the team on '10-'11''s 8.5 mil it might make sense for both sides to part ways at least after the trade deadline. He isn't worth 8.5 mil but he is probably still worth close to 4 a year and is only 26 (which is why this won't happen), by slashing his number in half the Pacers can get some flexibility under the expected Lux Tax level.

Dooling would also be a good fit but I just don't know what Boston can offer NJ for him, what would they really want and what is it worth to Boston?

Unfortunately it will probably be someone like Philly's Willie Green IMO. Someone relatively cheap.

I wouldn't be opposed to Ricky Davis. He only makes about $2.4 mill for one year. He definitely could bring scoring off the bench. Ainge and Doc know him well so if they feel he can help then I'm sure Ainge will make a call.

Have you looked at the Warriors roster?

To the thread, I don't believe any rumors from CSNNE.
