Kampman is far more likely than Boldin, but it's good to dream.

Detroit still has to show the new direction of the team and that they can win games, before the bigger free agents will take the Lions seriously. Right now, money talks.

But even with Kampman, that would be a MAJOR upgrade on our DLine. It would solidify both sides of the line. Kampman holds one side while Hunter and Avril battle it out for the opposite side. Best one gets the spot. Win-Win for the starter and the Lions. Then Suh + ??? as our interior lineman... that's driving me crazy!

Think about how much that would open up for our LB's. Peterson and Sims being freakishly athletic would have field days with the attention the DLine is getting... and Foote / Levy would tear it up in the middle. AHHHHHHH I'm screaming like a little girl, I promise!

I got this via ESPN INsider

Terry Pluto of the Cleveland Plain Dealer noticed something in the game-by-game statistics for the Cleveland Browns in the 2009 season: after Shaun Rogers suffered a season-ending leg injury and was replaced by Ahtyba Rubin, the Browns got more stout against the run. Interesting, given the disparity between the two players' salaries.

The logical conclusion that Pluto came to, then, was that the team may try to trade Rogers, who will be 31-years-old this March, and could still draw a pretty nice package in return given his talent. There have been rumblings that Rogers and the Lions want a reunion in Motown, so perhaps Detroit GM Martin Mayhew should be the first man dialed by Browns GM Tom Heckert regarding Rogers. Other teams that might show some interest given their needs are the Titans, Bills, Texans and Panthers.

Oh man how much I would love a Shaun Rogers reunion... and to put him next to Suh or McCoy, that would be AWESOME!

I love Shaun Rogers, but I don't get this. Shuan is older, has more wear and tear on his body and is coming back from a bad injury.

Rather try to put a package together for Kansas City, for DT Dorsey - who is not fitting into their 3-4 scheme.

Both Lito Sheppard and Kerry Rhodes have been released by the Jets.

+1.... besides Eric Berry, the safety options in the draft are weak. Addressing these needs in free agency can open the draft to other needs. DTs, OL, WR, RB,

What free agent CB's are avilable this offseason? I'd like to target some good CB's, since I don't think we're going to get any CB early in the draft....

None that will likely come to Detroit.

And Liq, I was with you on the safety depth, but I'm quickly changing my mind. There has been a lot of safeties that are actually showing some shine. Myron Rolle is QUICKLY getting his stuff back and even though he's not much of a tackler (which we don't need at safety), he is great on zone coverage (Which we desperately need at safety). Early Thomas is right behind Berry in terms of talent. That LSU safety is proving to be real good, as well as that Notre Dame safety.

But, Kerry Rhodes and Lito Sheppard are proven legit play makers and if they can stay healthy, they can fit in perfect right away.

ESPN INsider has Detroit, atm, front runners in getting Anquan Boldin and Willis McGahee. If we get McGahee, Dexter McCluster would be the PERFECT compliment to him. If we get Boldin, I will **** my pants.

Call me crazy, but I think we need to be spending our money in plather other than Boldin.

I would be interested in McGahee depending on his dollar amount. If he thinks he's getting starters money, I'd rather look elsewhere....

IMO, we need to spend our FA money on the o-line and secondary.

Some CB's I'd like us to look at signing:

Marlin Jackson
Carlos Rogers
Richard Marshall
Terence Newman

You cannot pre-determine what players will "want" to come here or not. Plus, Jackson went to UM, so he already has ties to the area....

Possibly Marlin, but Carlos Rogers and Terence Newman are very unrealistic. You have to think, 20 other teams are going to throw offers there way. Why would they want to come to Detroit?

I disagree, Boldin is exactly what we need in a receiver opposite Calvin. I don't care what it costs us just outside of our top 5 players and top 2 picks. Boldins value around the league is decreasing which helps us immensely. We can throw good picks and decent 2nd and 3rd tier players at Arizona for Anquan. Much better picks than other teams would be willing or able to give up.

Imagine Stafford having Boldin, CJ, Pettigrew and a couple RBs at his disposal.

Return to Detroit Lions
