Trade: Utah - Philly
If the Jazz aren't making a move to get under the cap, which O'Connor claims isn't a priority, I like this....
Korver, CJ, Kosta
for
Andre Iguodala
Philly gets one expiring, and two young players (one might even be good one day). Only costs us an extra 2 mil in salary and 2 mil luxury. Hollinger gives it +8 wins for the Jazz!

If the Jazz want a contender, then they do it!!! Sixers night not want to do it without NYK pick. As understand it, Sixers want alot for Iggy unless a team takes on Dalamberts contract. So to get Iggy NYK pick thrown likely required.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

Iggy is a real cap killer but that would improve the team greatly. It would be a salary dump for Philly they probably wouldn't consider.

It would take the Knicks pick and a lot more for this trade to happen. Iggy may be a bit over paid but he is still a potential all-star. Cj and Korver are what they are, won't add anything new through the rest of their careers. Kosta is a gamble. Swap Brewer for CJ and it may increase the odds.

I really don't see the incentive for Philly.

It's a mulligan on an overpaid player.

I'd swap CJ for Brewer and throw in NYK pick. Way its going its ~7-10, not getting a player better than Iggy with that. Also, sounds like Philly has given up on packaging Dalambert with him...
From Mark Stein:
Rumblings of lockout and much lower cap in new CBA probably kill this, but it would be a coup.
From Mark Stein:
The Sixers are only growing more determined to make a deal before the deadline. I’ve heard that in strong terms from three different sources this week already.
Which tells me we should expect to keep hearing more trade scenarios that include Andre Iguodala’s name.
Foiled in its longstanding attempts to move Samuel Dalembert and/or Elton Brand, Philly has apparently come to realize that its best shot at a shake-it-up move is convincing one of the risk-taking/big-spending teams out there – such Houston, Dallas and Cleveland – to absorb the four years and $56.3 million remaining on Iguodala’s contract after this season.

Re: Trade: Utah - Philly
He's only very slightly overpaid. Also, keep in mind that players on losing teams are generally considered to be overpaid, but when they get dealt to winning teams, suddenly they are a bargain. This happened with Pau Gasol. No one is claiming that he is overpaid now, or that his extension, which pays him even more than his previous contract, is a bad deal for the Lakers. But when he was in Memphis, he was considered to be getting more than he was worth.
If we traded for Iggy, he would be worth the money he's getting. I have no doubt about that.
Still, Philly is only going to do this if they can get either Brand(almost impossible) or Dalembert(still difficult) off the books in conjunction with the deal. Something like AK, Korver, and Brewer for Dalembert and Iggy might do the trick. Don't think its very likely though.

The only problem I have with Iggy is whether or not he would fit in with this team. From what I have seen of him, I don't see a Sloan type player that would fit this system. I may be completely wrong.
Also, Dalembert is a defensive C, but he is also the type of player I don't want on this team. His history is bad and Philly fans don't like him because they know he is lazy. I don't think he would do that well here.

Word is, South Beach is ecstatic that they
won't be seeing Millsaps talents again this season...

No way this happens if they insist on packaging Dalambert or Brand.... According to Stein they gave up on that though.
If we really wanted to be contenders we follow this up with the Haywood for Trade Exception move!

Re: Trade: Utah - Philly
I think Philly is under a lot of pressure to cut payroll, and they may not be able to move Brand or Dalembert, which means they'd HAVE to move Iggy.
I don't think the impediment here is their reluctance to trade Iggy, but I do think they'll get MUCH better offers for him than this.

Actually, looks like Fesenko instead of Kofus works. Fes and KK expire, leaving them with a promising young player with a good contract and a top 10 pick. They aren't getting much better than this, everyone knows Philly is desperate to make a deal.

It's funny, the only time CJ gets called a promising young player is when we are trying to trade him away.

I love CJ... Really think he will figure it all out with some extended minutes somewhere. I actually would rather give them Brew since we may not be able to keep him anyway. Remember, OKC thought he was a promising young player a few months ago!

including the NY pick is reasonable, iggy is a all star type player and is still young. I would rather have a sure thing, than a lottery pick.

After I heard Locke say that Iguodala expressed interest incoming to Utah I went to the Philly board and asked them who they thought would fit in with their team from the Jazz to trade for Iggy. (viewtopic.php?f=26&t=978960&start=90) The response was that there wasn't anybody on the Jazz they were interested in, and if a deal were to be done they (the people on the board) would expect Brand to be included with the deal. In my opinion if the Jazz were to obtain Iggy a third team would have to be involved.

I wouldn't put much faith in what the fans have to say on a forum. Most are complete idiots, like me. Total and absolute twits. Luckily GM's don't operate like kids over a forum do. Well, not since the days of Isiah Thomas and McHale. Anyway... I agree, I don't think we have the assets.

Re: Trade: Utah - Philly
The problem with most trades is that fans overrate their own players. If OKC would have come to our board and said "hey, we'll take Harp's contract off your hands if you give us Maynor" the immediate response here would have been G T F O. But that deal happened, and most RealGMers think it was a solid deal for us.
Problem is, a lot of GMs do the same thing: they overrate their players versus other people's players. This is why so few deals get done.
Owners are responsible for at least half the deals in the NBA. They go to their FO and say "cut payroll, I'm not paying this much for this crap team" or they say "get me someone who will sell tickets".
If the Jazz would take Dalembert off the Sixers hands and offer a decent young player or asset, I have no doubt that Philly would take the bait. But it would have to be immediate cap relief to get it done. The only thing we have there is Boozer and KK. A Boozer/KK/Brewer deal along with possibly Koufos would probably make the numbers work, and would cut over 20m off the Sixers' books for next year, while leaving them with the right to match on Brewer, a solid young big guy in Kosta and if the Jazz throw in a future 1st, that might be the deal clincher.
I can see a deal getting done, especially because of the relationship that KOC has with that Philly front office.
