Sources: Paul, Rondo to join KG in All Star Game

Spoiler: All-Star reserves revealed

By Adrian Wojnarowski & Marc J. Spears

Point guards Deron Williams(notes) of Utah, Chicago's Derrick Rose(notes) and Boston's Rajon Rondo(notes) will make their All-Star Game debuts next month in Dallas, sources said Thursday.

Williams, Rondo and Rose top the list of reserves chosen by the league's coaches to participate in the Feb. 14 game at Cowboys Stadium. The names won't be made official until Thursday night, but Yahoo! Sports has obtained the list of reserves.

Besides Rondo and Rose, the East roster includes Boston's Paul Pierce(notes), Toronto's Chris Bosh(notes), Charlotte's Gerald Wallace(notes) and Atlanta's Joe Johnson(notes) and Al Horford(notes).

The West includes the New Orleans' Chris Paul(notes), the Lakers' Paul Gasol, Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant(notes), Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki(notes), Memphis' Zach Randolph(notes) and Portland's Brandon Roy(notes).

Among the notable candidates left off the team are the Los Angeles Clippers' Chris Kaman(notes), New York's David Lee(notes) and Denver's Chauncey Billups(notes).

As expected. I'm surprised to see Horford get in over Josh Smith though. That's a major snub imo.

EDIT: Originally had Lee instead of Smith, didn't realize Smith didn't get in. I thought it was a guarantee with how he's been playing. That's a load of crap imo.

Wow nice to see Zach Randolph get in there. Looks like it was between he and Kaman, probably gave it to Z-Bo considering the breakthrough season by Memphis.

I guess it was also between Horford and Josh Smith there in Atlanta as well.

I'd guess it was more between Gasol and Kaman for backup center rather than factoring in Randolph into the argument. Them forcing backup centers on each team is the only explanation as to why Horford would have gotten in over Smith imo (in which case, they should've just made Bosh the backup center).

Kaman's not as big of a snub, but he definitely has an argument, given he's scoring more than Gasol and has been healthy all year.

Al Horford? I don't see how he gets in there over Josh Smith or David Lee.

And it sux that Gasol is in there instead of Kaman. I'm definitely a Kaman fan now though, after his talk about Gasol not deserving allstar spot.

Damn shame Josh Smith didn't make it in, because it would have been fun seeing he, along with Rondo (Oak Hill Academy alumni), putting on a show. Rondo throwing alley-oops to Lebron, Gerald Wallace, and Josh Smith all game long would have been sick.

I like the selections fine. Horford, Smith, Lee was a toss-up and whoever got in doesn't really matter. The east has no chance anyway just like last year the west is huge and the east is small.

I can't believe Josh Smith didn't make it. Just goes to show how much reputation matters. Joe Johnson does not deserve to be there over Josh let alone Horford. As an aside, I could definitely see this causing serious problems in the Hawks locker room.

Also I think this has the potential to be one of the better all star games in a while. This is by far the strongest crop of PG to make the squad from both the East in West. Nash, Paul, Williams, Rondo, Rose, and unfortunately AI.

Also congrats to KG, Rondo, and Paul!!

Josh Smith def deserved it

Great to see Rondo officially make it, for a guy who runs on confidence like Rajon we saw him grow so much after the title, and this all star selection will give him another boost... i hope he finds out before the game tonight

Ok. I must say, I did not think Rondo was going to make it, and boy am I thrilled to be wrong.. :)

Too bad Ray has been on a funk this year or we could have had 4 guys on the team..sure will miss him there though. Hopefully Eddie goes to the 3pt shoot out..than it would be a great All Star weak..

JSmoove didn't get snubbed, IMO.

He'd be my first alternate, though.

Im happy Smith didnt make it...besides his defense and blocking he has no allstar game...

I like Z-bo...he really deserves it this year...and Williams finally picked

Horford an Allstar? That's a head scratcher. He's a good player, but when compared to Perk I'd say it's a wash.

Real happy for Rajon. I'm excited to see how he comes out and plays tonight.

I thought Andrew Bogut should have been added.
He might have had a chance, if Iverson didn't take a spot that
Rondo, Rose or Joe Johnson deserved.

Wow and all the Rondo haters on this board claimed he would not make the All-Star team if he did not improve his free throw and outside shooting. More crow to eat...lol.

Glad to see both Rose and Rondo making it to the team.

And of course Bosh. It would have been a crime to not select him after the year he's been having.
