That's exactly the point stu........the team was garbage and needed his scoring more than anything else he could supply. It's something you're not getting man. You have to look first how the teams are constructed. I already know Kobe doesn't usually put up a lot of triple doubles, I'm not the one getting excited by the fact he has come close.......it's irrelevant to me.

Stu you're kind of tripping over yourself. When the team was 34-48 he didn't have enough help to even think about passing most of the time.

I don't think anyone is getting over excited the premise here is that we would like to see him do it a little more often, that's all, it doesn't have to turn into a big discussion.

Damn 2nd consecutive game missed cos' of with intramural season. Good to see Drew putting up good numbers. I hate the early tip offs on the EC trip. Atleast the Boston game is on the weekends.

Good win. I like this Kobe much better. Efficient and letting others get theirs.

On a side note, I thought I'd share my dream from last night as it might be a sign of things to come.

<weirdDream>

The Hawks take out the Celtics in the playoffs and go on to face the Cavs who sweep them with LeBron averaging 49 PPG. Meanwhile in the West the Lakers battle it out with the Spurs and get past them after a tough series. I was invited to take a halfcourt shot at halftime of one of the games. After launching the ball I held my finger up Larry Bird style, and missed. I was also hanging out with Magic Johnson after one of the games but I don't remember what we were doing.

On to the Finals, the only thing I remember is that we won the opening tip. Kobe took control of the ball and drove hard to the basket -- and the court was covered in snow WTF -- and gave us the early lead.

Then I woke up.

Only bad thing about these positive offensive numbers last 3 games is that they have come against 3 of the worst defensive teams and softest teams in the league.

But it has definitely been good to see Kobe come out of the slump, it has helped tremendously that guys have been aggressive. I hope people have noticed how assertive LO has been lately and Brown and Farmar. When guys are assertive Kobe doesn't need to go into chuck mode.

And Stu, in that 35ppg season, if you watched much of it, you'd realize how poor Kobe's help was, he should have averaged closer to 8 assists without even altering his game because of how often Kwame dropped wide open layups and dunks out of bounds, or Smush missing wide open 3s or Medvedenko missing open kickouts. It was pretty pathetic at times. Look at the season where he had 30 7 7 when he actually had some vets that would finish plays but still needed him to be the primary option and creator. On this team though, even though his role is still more of an attacker from pinch post, he should continue to have nights with 7-10 assists. With Pau in the lineup again and LO and other guys assertive and involved I think he will. He started the season out in post attack mode with Pau out, then he got caught up in playing through injury and and trying to will the team through lack of energy and injuries of their own by chucking. Not the best idea, but I think it came more from desire then selfish reasons like some people think. Guy just wants his team to have the same mentality as he does. When they do he's much more willing to facilitate then when they just sit back and expect him to hand it to them. My opinion anyway...

I hope our guys are similarly aggressive when we face Boston and Charlotte and Memphis, much more physical teams. I need to see these guys not shy away from the tough teams vs just showing up for the softies.

Kobe needs to keep choosing his spots and letting the game come to him instead of forcing shots. Keep playing like this and you'll beat more teams like this, easily even on the road.

Hey if you think about it we are where we were last year's huge road trip, except we exchanged the wins/loses of last year to the cavs/pacers, we just lost to the cavs and beat the pacers, heh. Hey each win is worth equal in the regular season, as long as we're playing our best game headed into the playoffs.

I think he avg'd 27, 6 and 5 on 43% that year if I remember right. I think he was 3rd team all nba, that team needed rebounding, assist and points and a few a miracles, I don't under the logic that if kobe needed to put up those type of numbers then he could because we needed it then and he didn't. Which is not a knock on Kobe but only a few players in history can put triple double type numbers.

That was also the season LO paraded as a SF and Caron Butler was only discovered when it was too late. Chris Mihm was our 2b option and Divac/Grant just hung their boots and Chucky was Chucky.

With Phil Jackson coaching that team and if they'd lined up with

Mihm
Odom
Butler
Kobe
<insert any decent PG> we would have been in the playoffs.
