Just as I have said before. Minnesota doesn't give a crap about NBA basketball. :(

Minnesotans are notorious for being bandwagon fans. Wolves start winning and everyone claims to be a "huge fan."

Minnesota doesn't give a crap about sports unless there is a winning product on the floor/field.
We are a bandwagon fair-weather fan state and it sucks.

LOL the Clippers!!

Clippers have worse attendance than the T-Wolves and there in L.A. The Clippers always sell a lot of Tickets to local businesses but then they cna't give the tickets away and the Staples Center is always 1/3 full. Everytime I go to a Clippers game I buy $5 tickets and sneak down to about the 15th row because no one is there.

We are a bandwagon state, but the Wolves have done exceptionally little to create a loyal fan base. One deep playoff run in 20 years isn't enough, get a couple more good runs and the loyal portion of the fan base will go up.

There is probably a direct correlation between cold weather and low attendance and ticket sales. It is just too cold to go to games right now. We should get bonus points for showing up when its 5 degrees outside

I'd like to see how they quantify loyalty. Are Laker fans less loyal because they support their very successful team? Attendance needs to carry a component for the price of tickets, with many teams boosting their numbers by giving away discounted and free admittance.

anyway, given how bad the Wolves have been over their 20 years of existance I'm not surprised to see them that low in total numbers. on the other hand, I think it's pretty remarkable that there are still 10000+ people attending Timberwolves games. heck there are even a lot of foreign fans still rooting for them even though they actually have tons of reasons to abandon this team.

Absurdly skewed and lacks many variables.

1) MN has NBA, NHL, NFL, MLB, WNBA, plus college teams to contend with as a mid market. What other teams on here contend with that that arent huge markets like chi/nyk/la/etc?

PHI - phi market is 4th?
Hou - market is 9-10th?
Det - 10th ish?
PHX - about MN's market size and not high considering they are a playoff team
Den - about MNS market size and not high considering they are a playoff team

2) Cold. Duh I'm not sure how you skew this stat. You'd probably need to do it on an individual game basis. If 0 degrees handicap expected game att by X.

3) Losing the face of franchise within past 3-4 years. PHI faced this and is at the bottom of the list with a huge market. NJ is to as they have dismantled their team. Notice the bottom 4 teams all more or less lost their face of franchise within the past 4 years (AI/KG/VC-etc/Gasol).

This isn't anything about fan loyalty imo. This shows fan alienation more than anything.

This model also skews against large markets. If a team is expected to draw 97% like LAL or almost 100% capacity it is heavily penalized if it misses the mark or has a bad product. The real way to measure this is from year to year and look at the difference for each team. Or better yet game by game for each team and account for the draw of the other team because of stars.
