I am heartbroken as a Bears fan. And while I am truly sorry for his family, all I know of Gaines Adams is from a brief glance at the combine and Clemson clips some years ago. Since I have no personal involvement or knowledge of Gaines Adams, all I can think of is actually Jerry Angelo. PT Barnum knew it, and unfortunately, Jerry Angelo proves it. A sucker is born every minute, and this particular sucker is my GM. Scuse me while I get a jump on this.

It is so tragic to lose someone that age with a young child left behind. RIP Gaines.

I also thought about JA, and his terrible luck with every move he makes. This doesn't need to turn into a "fire Jerry Angelo thread", this isn't the place, and there are plenty of others out there.

You kind of feel bad because his legacy is going to be a guy who had a ton of potential but never did anything on the field. I thought he was going to have a breakout year next year.

I guess the more you think about it the more you have to wonder exactly how much effect did the heart thing have on his performances? :-?

Sportsworld--I felt real bad about my last words I wrote about him before his death basically slammed the guy. I hate that his NFL legacy is unfulfilled potential and largely disappointing. I'm trying real hard to remember the guy I briefly met at the Combine who was quiet but looked you in the eye when he shook your hand and seemed to have a great future. It wasn't that long ago and I think an offseason of better focus and spending time with his team instead of going home--which was his plan--would help get him going right again. He was never going to be a big sack guy but he was a pretty good run defender before this past year, and Chicago needed that too.
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

 This thread sitting at the top of the page is depressing

Now that we've all had our say is it possible to delete this thread or move it off the front page?
