Replace George Karl with the great leader Bill Laimbeer, and we're set.
It didn't work so well last time we scoured the ranks of the guys who only had WNBA head coaching experience.
Well, if we are to try a rookie coach, he gets my vote.
Difference between him and Michael Cooper is Bill was the GM of the Detroit Shock team too. Say what you want about the competition in WNBA... but playing in women's league, it's not like his team was consisted of men either. He had to use what he had to get to the top and I believe they won 4 championships in the last decade.
That's still called managing and leading.
What won me over is his no-non-sense attitude, yet he's not a hard ass coach where the players ultimately lose respect for him in the end. He would not have his words not listened to, but most important is he communicates well with his players, meaning other than talking, he can also listen to them. He's a disciplinarian yet he can be easy going and honest with his players. He's a bad boy, tall one at that, players would have respect for him. And, he knows his Xs and Os and how to draw up plays.
Women competition yes, but it was still a heck of competition. I think he will transition to an NBA coach pretty easily.
