Im truely honored and excited to select
THE GOAT player in his GOAT yr

1966-67 81 games 45.5mpg 9.7FG 14.2FGA .683FG% .441FT% 24.2RPG 7.8APG 24.1PPG MVP
Wilt put it all together this yr. Nearly 70%FG 8apg and still a dominate rebounder. The guy had a quad double on the Celtics and Bill Russell in the 5th game of the ECF.

well it is hard to believe that picking #2 leaves me settling for someone I ws not crazy about drafting (no knock on my guy, I just really wanted Wilt)
But the Boned Samuels select the greatest player we have ever seen play and go with .....
Michael Jordan
not sure of which year (decade) yet depends on the rest ot the draft.

Re: NBA/ABA Decades League Draft Thread: Miller4ever

I'm taking the guy that would go #1 in any competition without decades stipulation. 1975-1976 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He averaged 27.7 points per game, grabbed 16.9 rebounds, dished out 5 assists, pickpocketed 1.5 times a game and swatted 4.1 shots out of the air.
At this stage he is 28 years old and in his prime. He has won a championship and several MVP awards, and is a perfect compliment on any team with his blend of unselfishness and takeover ability.

Re: NBA/ABA Decades League Draft Thread: TMACFORMVP
I'm going Hakeem Olajuwon.

We're not sold he was the best player on the board, but we feel he's the best in terms of building a franchise. With there being sixteen teams, both the first and second tier of big man would be gone before our pick in the second round. That would force us to reach on a pick whom we wouldn't like, as we have a late third round pick as well. Olajuwon provides an elite anchor on both ends of the floor, his one year peak consisting of accolades such as the All-NBA First Team, All-NBA Defensive First team, and a mini-scule NBA Finals MVP, a regular season Most Valuable Player Award, all while winning the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year. That all goes without mentioning, he was an NBA champion leading an undermanned Houston Rockets team to an NBA Championship.

Re: NBA/ABA Decades League Draft Thread: CellarDoor
Cellar, where art thou?
With help from some other posters, CellarDoor selects Larry Bird. Best player on the board, can make a great case for best peak, and notably one of CellarDoor's highest ranked players for this sort of thing.
As for me, I'll take 1999-00 Shaquille O'Neal.

Shaq was unstoppable that season. A guy that talented and that motivated was downright frightening for opposing centers.
MVP, Finals MVP, All-NBA (1st), All-Defensive (2nd)
Regular Season: 29.7 PPG, 13.6 RPG, 3.8 APG, 3.0 BPG, 0.5 SPG, 57.4 FG%
Playoffs: 30.7 PPG, 15.4 RPG, 3.1 APG, 2.4 BPG, 0.6 SPG, 56.6 FG%
