Re: Wolves Aren't Trying to Win
I gotta admit, thats a big blow to the ego if he'd rather sit out a year than play for the Timberwolves. I can see guys being indifferent to MN or preferring to play somewhere else, but to rather sit out completely and not get paid rather than join the Wolves would be a bit over the top.

Narf wrote:We keep his rights no matter what. Under the current CBA, if he stays over for 3 years he can sign a contract outside of the Rookie Scale. But I'm pretty sure Glenn Taylor is head of the finance committee, which decides those details. It's been speculated that in the new CBA Taylor will push hard to change the rules about Europlayers being able to weasel out of the rookie scale by staying overseas for 3 years. So it will then be Rubio's choice, come over now or wait....but you'll get the same rookie pay scale whenever you get here.
That's an interesting point and one that could have some bearing on when/if Ricky comes to MN. I had heard some people say that they expect Taylor to push for the rule to be shortened to 2 years to entice Ricky to come over after next year. I realize that he would cost more in this scenario but IMO it would guarantee that he comes to us. However, if Taylor pushed to make it so Ricky would have to take a rookie deal regardless of when he came over, it could also get him to come over after next year, but it might rub him the wrong way since we would be forcing his hand. Either way, it will be interesting to see if any change is made and how it affects Ricky's decision.
And finally, a couple questions to Shrink or any other CBA guru:
If Ricky is able to come over and sign a regular deal (non-rookie scale) how does that figure into our cap holds?
Does the 3 years overseas count as 3 NBA seasons or 3 calendar years? So for example, if the league has a lockout after next season and there are no games played, would Ricky be able to sign a FA deal (3 years) the next year or would he still be bound to the rookie scale (3 seasons).

I like what Rambis did with the rotation against the Knicks.
Love, Jefferson and Hollins all got 30 mins
Flynn and Sessions split the PG mins right down the middle.
Brewer/Wilkins/Ellington/Gomes each get around 20-25 mins

His rotation actually resembled a real NBA team. I can't wait until that looks like:
Love, Jefferson and (Haywood/Aminu/Aldrich/Monroe/etc.) all got 30 mins
Rubio (36) and Turner (12) split up the PG mins
Turner/Gay/Ellington/Brewer each get around 20-30 mins at the wing

So you want Flynn out if Rubio comes over?
I guess that's what's most likely. Keep Sessions as a back-up and Flynn gets dealed because he has more value than Sessions.

Re: Wolves Aren't Trying to Win
I was just kind of postulating but say Kahn's meetings in Spain w/ Ricky go really well and he is really confident that Ricky would come over in 2011-12, I would be completely fine with trading Jonny to move us up so we could get Evan Turner if we end up picking 3rd or lower. Don't get me wrong, I do like Jonny, but Ricky will be the future and I will be sorely disappointed if we come out of this draft without either Wall or Turner.
