Our Media Really Sucks

Celtics Tonight begins with dumbass Gary Tanguay saying "plenty of rumors going around" Huh? One report with no sources tied to it by Yahoo Sports saying Ainge has put him out there somehow turns into plenty of rumors? Just terrible reporting. Then numbass, dumbasses brother, Dickerson says ESPN had a rumor, which wasn't a rumor at all, it was pure speculation/idea by Chris Sheridan. How do this turds have jobs?

And anyone who has read Sheridan reports over the last few years knows that he has the worst "sources" in the world.

Gary Tanguay is right there with him. And does anyone else think Dickerson looks extremely creepy the way he looks at interviewees while he's listening to them?

But that is the thing, Sheridan was just making something up, just like we do here, and somehow it becomes a rumor. How is this a rumor?

Would both teams be happy with a trade (and we're merely speculating here) that sent Allen and a minor player to Chicago for Kirk Hinrich, Tyrus Thomas and Jerome James (a 3-for-2 would work, because Boston has left a roster spot open since Lester Hudson was claimed off waivers by Memphis)? Or for Hinrich and Brad Miller?

And yes, Dickerson is creepy. My wife cannot watch TV if he is on.

Not to play the Devils advocate but Tanguay did break the Rasheed Wallace news and the details behind the Big Three Flying out with Wyc to met with him.

With that said, I don't see why you guys are all up in arms about rumors. What did you expect when you have a HUGE expiring contract on your hands one year before the biggest free agency in NBA history. There is a rule of thumb in the media, "if it bleeds it leads." This coming from a journalism major. The same can be applied to sports in that sense as well, but you have to take it for whats it's worth. Those of you that subscribe to ESPN insider, well then you are just taking the bait. Nowadays there are so many people in the know that rumors come from anyone and anywhere, but what makes it continue is that people like us will certainly talk about it.

It's not really OUR media, but its the media in general and to a greater extent the viewership. A good cliche would be if you throw mud at a wall its bound to stick. Its the same thing with so called "insiders" they can make up any number of rumors and are bound to be right eventually.

Ha-ha, when I hear or read conversations like this I just laugh and think poor weather forecasters, they are right bout 95% of the time, but those 5 times they are going to get killed for it and people will never forget.

The media's supposed to cause excitement in casual fans (the majority watching games) and a way to do this is by making more out of something than it is. They don't want to here "well, he's a completely unsourced speculative trade idea that came from realGM", they want to hear "there are rumors Ray Allen may be traded." They're just doing their job to boost ratings.

It's when RealGM makes something out of nothing in their wiretap that annoys me, because the majority of fans here do want to hear the real business behind a move, not all the needless suspicion.

I think the worst part of that pre-game was donny. Did you hear him when he talked about Ray Allen like he was the savior. I love ray, but donnys ballwashing for this guy is getting too over the top. I'll have to re-watch but from what I understand he stated that the sonics leaving Seattle was because ray allen left :lol

Like I said in another thread, I'd prefer not to replace Ray with Butler, because it'd just give Donny another UConn guy to man crush all over.

I've been a Tanguay and Dickerson hater for years and they do nothing to diminish my hatred, they only make it grow...

and when Tanguay sits in for Mike and broadcasts games with Tommy? He's ****' horrendous!

My girlfriend was actually saying last night how creepy Dickerson looks. They need to quit the camera 10 inches from his face stuff, it's not a good look.

Donny blows. Who's **** is he suckin to have and keep this job? Is it really that hard to find an ex-nba player that can do the job without being a clown?
Gary's decent. The radio show and pats postgames has changed my view on him.
Dickerson blows. Love his enthusiasm for the C's, but everything else he brings to the table is embaressing.

And with the pending death of print, these guys will be our only hope of C's news aside from the internet.
