Should we package Ray Allen to acquire Tracy McGrady?

Post#1 » by Octolor » Tue Feb 2, 2010 1:20 am

The Celts have the pieces to make this work but do you think the Celts are better with McGrady than Ray Allen?

Moving forward we would have a nucleus of McGrady, Rondo and Perk which is pretty solid.

However, McGrady seems like a gamble to me considering his inury situation.

What do you think of McGrady as a Celtic?

If you aren't happy with Ray, I'd LOVE to see you root for Tracy McGrady in a C's uniform.

BWAHAHAHA

This is a bad idea, plain and simple.

No.

It doesn't need further explanation.

Best case possibility is that tracy can have a good a season as ray allen right now, which isn't sayin much.

He will only play 20 games a year and shoot lower percentages in everything, hog the ball for 75% of the time he's out there, and make our offense stand still. Sure, Ray isn't great at defense, but at least he tries out there. Not only is McGrady bad at defense, but he also doesn't try.

Only worth it if you can land Battier as well, which I highly doubt will happen.

You also make it seem like TMac would be part of our future with Rondo and Perkins. Problem is, he's already 30 and possibly the more worn down than any of our current Big 3, which is REALLY saying something.

Ridiculous.

If you have any sense for the game,
you would know why it's ridiculous.

Take a stab at explaining why.

Even for a joke thread, this isn't much of a joke.

We should, however, wait and see if McGrady is bought out, then use the Doc connection to add him and audition for the MLE next year (or more elsewhere.)

This makes a lot of sense, he'd be perfect subbing at the 2/3 if he's healthy. Houston doesn't want him to play, he's just an expiring to most teams trading for him - and it's totally worthwhile for him to give up a little money in exchange for some playing time that could be the difference between the MLE and the minimum this summer.

This makes much more sense. It would be a Marbury situation where if it doesnt work out we can simply cut him with little repercussion. I do not like Tracy and never have, but on a make good deal like this i dont see how it can go wrong. Im not sure if he is still able to physically offer much, nor and i sure he would accept a bench role with us, but if so why not?

As people have posted this is a pretty ridiculous idea. As a buyout target he would be interesting though.

Maybe not everyone should be able to make topics?
