As a Bulls fan, I wouldnt want Tyrus on your team.My biggest fear is that KG would knock some sense into Tyrus head and guess what?...............yall would have a DPOY canidate.Thats scary

Chicago saves a lot of money by doing this deal. Which could help them in the Dwayne Wade sweepstakes.

Hinrich is overpaid, but I'd take his contract to get Deng. Ray has been a true professional and he's possibly the best 3 point shooter ever, but we need to make a move. We have to think about building a team that will still compete when KG and Paul are gone.

I applaud this trade. Nice job cfan79. Although I don't think the Bulls would part with Thomas if they were giving up Deng already, I'd still be okay with Hinrich and Deng if the numbers worked. Deng would be a nice piece to add to the Rondo/Perkins cornerstones.

Doing this trade lets them free up caproom to sign two max free agents, but why would two want to go there to play with just Rose? As it stands, they will already be able to sign one outright (very close) and they're enticing them over with Deng and Rose. Deng's too good to give up for expirings. He'd be a major selling point to attracting free agents. Also, if they fail this offseason, Deng's a huge part of their core going forward regardless.

Try using some logic in your trades, seriously.

First of all, Hinrich is ONLY overpaid for a backup guard. For a starting PG or SG, he is really good and good value for his descending contract as well - not to mention he has only 2 years left now.

Also, Bulls really won't include Deng as well.

Keep in mind Bulls really don't NEED to move Hinrich in order to go for a Max free agent this summer. They can just move Salmons for expiring and call it a day. Salmons also is likely to opt out of his contract as he is looking to get paid this summer as this will be his last contract.

Yes, Bulls want to go after that prize free agent but Bulls also want to make playoffs and make some noise to make it easier for them to convince other free agents over going to NY/NJ etc.

Hinrich or Salmons deal can be done though and I don't have problem trading for Tyrus either (although I think Tyrus could explode in Boston with KG as his mentor).

Thanks, I think Chicago could make a major run at Wade and Bosh. They are one of the few teams that is in a big market that could have a lot of money to play with.

You make it seem like Hinrich has no value and that he's a throw-in for any deal that gets you guys Deng.

Ridiculous.

I don't really think Deng is available for straight expirings, even if one of them is Ray Allen.

I think you can have a pick-em choose-em type deal of Allen+expirings for any combination of Hinrich, Thomas, Salmons, James, Pargo.

He would be a backup point guard on a lot of teams. 9-10 million a year is a lot of money for a backup. The one's who would start him are young and/or bad teams who wouldn't want to take on his contract.

How is that being a homer? All these teams are set at starting point guard or can't afford an expensive backup.

Atlanta - can't afford him
Boston - has Rajon
Chicago - has Rose
Cleveland - has Mo.Williams
Dallas - has Kidd
Denver - has Billups
Detroit - Stuckey
Golden State - Ellis
Houston - Brooks
LA Clips - B.Davis
New Jersey - D.Harris and probably wants Wall
New Orleans - Paul
Miami - Alston, Arroyo, Chalmers
Milwaukee - Jennings
Oklahoma - Westbrook
Orlando - Nelson
Phoenix - Nash
Portland - A.Miller, Bayless, Blake
Sacramento - Evans
San Antonio - Parker
Toronto - Calderon, Jack
Utah - D.Williams
Washington - Arenas, Foye

It's being a homer in the sense that youre getting your point across by just devaluing a guy like Hinrich. Portland, Miami, Houston, ATL, Washington (seeing as Arenas will most liklely be gone as soon as they can get rid of him), are all teams that Hinrich would start on. It also depends on the type of game a team plays....Hinrich would thrive on a team like the Lakers or Portland where he isn't the primary ball handler. To say that "To get deng, i'll take on hinrich's backup PG contract" is pretty insulting to hinrich and would get laughed at by most GMs.

But what do I do know..

But what do I do know..

Kirk wouldn't start on Houston, Brooks is lightyears better than him. You have to be wearing a red blindfold to believe Kirk would start over Brooks. Kirk is also a worse player than Andre Miller, which puts him on Portlands bench. Kirk isn't better than Mike Bibby so he wouldn't start on the Hawks. That leaves 2 of 30 teams in this league where Kirk would start (and that's contingent on Washington dumping Arenas) and both of those teams wouldn't have interest in paying him that much money. Kirk doesn't have a ton of value.

Edit - He could also start for NYK and Indiana. But NYK won't be willing to pay his salary. Indiana could work though.
