Ray Allen in Utah?

If we're still looking to trade Boozer I think this is one of the better trades for us. Allen would give us a legit shooting guard and a veteran presence. I'm not 100% on trading Boozer because as much as I like how AK and Millsap are handling the 4 spot right now I don't think the duo would work out quite as well in the playoffs.

I'm sorry, Soul, but Boozer is much better than Allen. You can get much more for him IMO.
Considering money is not a big issue for Boston, it's better to trade somebody else.

I don't know how long his current contract is, but Ray Allen would be perfect in this system. He is exactly what we need.

If the front office for a fact knows that they can't resign Boozer, this is definitely a good deal for the Jazz. For one, Allen has played in a system where he's been the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd option, so he can differ to his opponents and doesn't require the ball. He still is arguably the best shooter in the league, has leadership qualities that I would say are unequaled on this team. He would basically replicate what Hornacek did, but without the bad knees, so he's obviously much more athletic. While Boozer has been beasting, Millsap has to play limited minutes, and while he can turn in big nights of the bench, he's far better in the lineup on a consistent basis. I'm not saying he's better than Boozer, but he's a far better defender, and honestly, may be just as good on offense, but then again I only have a small sample size to work with (2 starts). Anyways, I'm all for:

Okur
Millsap
Kirilenko
Allen
Williams

Just think about that...

I would be for it if Boozer was gone for sure. Allen is expiring too and I would like to see what this team would be like with a fantastic shooter at the 2.

According to hoopshype, Ray is making about 7 mil more this year than Booz.

I honestly don't see why the Jazz would do this. I don't think Allen would opt to re-sign in Utah, even if we picked him up now. If we're only gonna have either guy for the rest of this season, I'm going with Boozer.

Anyone who thinks this is a good idea hasn't looked at Ray Allen's contract.

He makes Rip Hamilton look like a bargain.

Huh? Allen expires after this season while Hamilton has 3 more years left.

I wouldn't trade Boozer for him, but I would trade AK and Brewer.(which works)

Jazz get out from under Ak's last year, Allen is an upgrade from Brewer. Boston loses some shooting, but they get another defender to pair with KG, and Brewer is a nice young piece.

I wouldn't trade either Boozer or AK for Ray Allen. Allen is not aging well the last 18 months or so, and is 5 years older (or more) than AK and Boozer are. If both Boozer and Allen are expiring this summer, I'd much, much rather take Carlos into the playoffs than Ray Allen at this point. Same with AK...

Ah.. I thought he had more left on his deal. Let's just pretend I didn't post that.

Not a terrible idea with the way Millsap played of late but Allen leaves next year anyway and he is old and slow. If he was playing that well Celtics would not put him on the block right now.

I would still do Boozer/Kosta for Hamilton/Wallace if Detroit is willing to pickup on some of Hamilton's salary.

I don't think Boozer is what boston really has in mind.

I think that Allen at the 2 for Boozer is a good deal for us. With Boozer in the lineup, Millsap essentially goes from All Star to just an above average bench player. Trading Boozer would allow us to maximize Millsap's abilities, and I honestly don't think we'd see much of a dropoff. The problem is that Boozer is 28 while Allen is 48 (or thereabouts), and thus we lose the long term value with Booz. If we could spin CJ, Boozer, and Korver for Ray Ray, Leon Powe (injured, but a good backup long term), and a future 1st rounder (2012 pick, preferably) then I would do that deal. It would allow us to get the shooter we need this year along with a replacement for Millsap as the backup 4 and a nice mid 1st rounder.

That deal would give Boston the juice to take the chip this year, too. Probably a better deal for them than for us.

I don't see why you guys do this deal. I'd rather hold onto Boozer and try to s/t him this offseason. You have a better chance of that than s/t'ing Ray Allen

Actually, once Ray got into our system, I think he'd love to be here. The problem with getting people to come here is getting their foot int he door. Once they've experienced the city, the fans, and the organization, they love it here. Especially with the way that our offense is tailor made for Ray Allen. He would thrive coming off of pin downs and double screens, and his passing ability would be a tremendous fit with our motion O. I think you'd see an immediate bump in production from him, and going into next year we'd see him willing to sign for a modest contract to stay.

Boozer is still worth way more, I admit. But at this point, I don't see us extracting his true value in this market. It's a buyer's dream right now, and we are looking to sell at the exact wrong time.

I don't really see why Boston wants Boozer. KG is making a ton of money and they already have Sheed.
