Cito Plan on more small ball this year

Just head him on the radio. He said he'd call for a hit & run from the bench, but it wouldn't get done. Guys didn't know what they were doing. So expect more running, etc this season.

Playing small ball is a good way to go. It keeps the opposing pitcher on his toes.

thought we had a bunch of 'swing for the fences' types

and poor base runners too

either way, I hate pitching/smallball teams and hope it fails. Really hope anthoupoulou is building a team that wins 6-5 instead of 3-2

I have liked everything AA has done so far and I have bought in big time on the direction of the ballclub...that said, for the life of me I don't understand why Cito Gaston is the Manager this year. We have already established he is gone after this year, and that he has tenure with the organization, which translates into "manage my way and if you dont like it, bite me" if you ask me.

Don't you need some speed to play small ball? Or at least a leadoff hitter?

It's good they seem to be attempting to play more small ball this year, however this team isnt built for small ball. Our pitching is not as good as its been over the last 2-3 years and now our hitters seem to be more power oriented, with lower avgs/obp.
