Getting a copy of Super Bowl XXXI

I've looked on the internet and I haven't been able to find a copy of the Packers only Super Bowl victory of my lifetime. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about how I could get a complete copy of the game. My search turned up a lot of clip shows, but not the definitive tape of the Fox broadcast.

Maybe it isn't possible or legal, in which case I will just give up my search and hope that it is released sometime in my life...

I want to reiterate the fact that I don't want to do anything illegal... I want a legal copy of the game... if such a thing exists.

I don't know that there is anywhere to buy the complete film of Super Bowl XXXI at this point. Closest thing is probably the Super Bowl collections that I think are put out by NFL Films. They have them for I-X, XI-XX, XXI-XXX and XXXI-XLso far. You can find the one with XXXI on Amazon.com for $42 or so though I'm guessing it is just highlights. If you want the full film you probably have to go a semi illegal route.

Keep tabs on NFL Network's programming. I remember after Favre's cry fest retirement in 2007, they showed all sorts of classic Favre games including XXXI numerous times. NFLN might show quite a few old Super Bowls in the next few weeks so maybe they'll re-air it. Also when Favre does finally retire for the last time, they may show it again.

Yeah, I would recommend that Greatest Games DVD package with 10 Packer games. I found the entire DVD set, case and everything, for under $20 on eBay about a year ago. So you can find it cheaper there. But it includes that Super Bowl game.

Overall that set is pretty sweet with good choices. There were a few games I would've changed probably. I would've taken out the second NFC Championship game I think. I thought a better choice would've been either a game from the Majik era like the famous Instant Replay game, or possibly the Packers vs Lions playoff game in 93 when Favre hit Sharpe late in the game.

So I'm watching this game since you posted the thread and now I see where the Madden-Favre love affair started. Near the end of the third quarter Brett takes off running for a 10 yard scramble or so and Madden just loves it.

Madden: "He's just the darndest guy I've ever seen, he plays QB like a nose tackle"

Summerall: "And he's got the mischief of a 7 or 8 year old in his eyes"

Then Madden goes into some story about Favre picking up a baseball with his foot. I don't remember this stuff live but clearly the start of the love fest that Madden developed for Favre.

It is complete games. LarryHarris was telling me about it at the Bucks game on Tuesday, he had watched the first half I believe. It has the original Fox feed for the Super Bowl with their commentators and such. He was amazed at how bad camera technology was back then since it was pre HD And all of that good stuff.

Yes, complete games. Overall a pretty cool dvd set. Obviously some of the games are debatable but recommended for any diehard Packer fan who wants the original broadcast.

I think watching these is helping me to thaw a little bit on my Favre anger. It won't go away until he's retired and maybe until he's in the HOF as a Packer but this is definitely helping.

I didn't know this until recently either, but you don't go into the HOF as a member of any teams, but as a member of all the teams you've played for, so at no point will he have to pick, though it will sure be interesting to hear what he has to say.

Maybe I should watch more of the games besides the Super Bowl. My hate is still strong!
