However, the fact that the 32-year-old Pierce is having additional tests beyond X-rays means in all likelihood, there are no broken bones.

X-rays generally determine whether bones are broken or have some type of fracture.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging tests, better known as MRIs, give a better indication as to whether there's ligament or soft tissue damage.

Either way, there's a good chance that Pierce will miss some games.

^^^ Where'd you hear that no broken bones were found? Pierce is on my fantasy team. this news does not make me happy.

All I see is that additional tests are being taken.

The NBA..where somebody falls on your foot, you run another quarter on it, and find out it's broken later on. COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!! It can't be broken..there is no way you run on a broken foot...NO WAY! He will probably miss at least a couple of games though...

If it takes too long, will Ray Allen be his replacement for the All Star game?Maybe?

Nothing is official from anyone.......from a close Celtic writer who states....."the fact that the 32-year-old Pierce is having additional tests beyond X-rays means in all likelihood, there are no broken bones.

Yao played on a broken foot during last year Lakers-Rockets series.
Mchale played on a broken foot the entire 87' season.

Josh Smith / David Lee will probably replace Paul in the ASG...

Not really true. I once broke my elbow and was still able to play BBall for a half hour before I realized something was seriously wrong. At first it just felt like a stinger, but my arm progressively got weaker untill I couldn't even push the ball off my hands when trying to shoot.

I broke my foot playing pick-up ball and kept playing for 2 hours.

Didn't even go to the doctor for 10 days.

And the last time Pierce had a broken foot, he kept playing on it for a week or so.

McHale played on two broken feet for a few months in the 87 playoffs.

JSmoove will get the nod for Pierce. Maybe once KG drops out (he should), Allen will get consideration, but I highly doubt it.

Yeah, the foot's pretty resilient to pain. Keep in mind that it has to be strong enough to support the human body for long periods of time. I knew a skateboarder (not the pinnacle of intelligence...) that broke his foot and kept rolling for a week before he finally decided to go see a doctor. I had a stress fracture in my foot last year that I was able to walk on regularly, but when I'd do heavy running it'd start hurting.

Either way, he'll be fine for the playoffs.
