Assisted Baskets?

Post#1 » by Miklo » Tue Feb 2, 2010 5:40 pm

Question for all of you stat gurus - I'm trying to figure out a way to measure the percentage of a player's made baskets that were assisted. To my knowledge, only the number of assists is recorded and not the recipients. So without going through the play-by-play and picking out pass-score sequences, is there any way? I keep playing with it in my head, whether there is a way to tie FGM and AST together, but the best I've been able to come up with are ways to estimate it.

Example: Al Jefferson is assisted on 44% of his made baskets.

Great, thanks. Sorry for creating a thread since it is already tracked - figured it would be a common enough inquiry that it could be found somewhere.
