As an addendum, let's not over look one massive piece of improvement: TURNOVERS. His 9.7 TO rate currently ranks in the top 3rd of all SFs, regardless of minutes, and of the 12 best players at the position (a list that included LeBron, Durant, Melo, Pierce, etc) in terms of PER, he has as good or better of TO rate than all but three of them (Rudy Gay, Shawn Marion and Luol Deng). Not just that, but its down a startling 39% from his career high 15.7 rate of 06-07, and is down markedly from the 12-13ish one he's established as his career norm. Usually he's among the game's most TO prone players for his position. This year, he's made a huge step forward, even though the team has still had big issues.

This tells you he's making better decisions, not throwing so many wild passes into traffic, and valuing the ball more. Throw that in with his improved shot selection and outside stroke, that has allowed him to make 50%+ from the field and you have a TS% that approaches 60% (which is sort of the "elite" watermark for scoring efficiency). If he could get a few more rebounds and maybe one or two assists here or there, he would be over 20 PER no problem. And this is all after a very mediocre start. If he continues his current level of play, he will be there by March.

If you have seen lately, Deron and AK have become closer on the floor. I think with this new found bond, AK is finding more ways to become available to Deron's offense. AK has finally understood that he doesn't necessarily need the ball to become productive to this team. His defense, rebounding, and shot percentage has increased this year along with his overall morale.

I think it's the added weight in combination with ball movement and improved defense. All that muscle is really helping him last through the season.

Seems to me like some of it has come off though. It's hard to tell. I wonder how much of the added 20 is still there?

Word is, South Beach is ecstatic that they
won't be seeing Millsaps talents again this season...

I think there is something to he and Deron getting along better.
