Trade proposal: Wolves PG for Marc Gasol

well since the wolves turned down the rockets when they were offering up aaron brooks and shane battier, why on earth would the wolves want to now deal rubio (whose value continues to rise with his strong play this season in spain) for just marc gasol?

Actually, its a pretty decent proposal, I think. Gasol is a true center, and a talented one too. 15/9 is no fluke.

david kahn wouldnt take aaron brooks and shane battier. then david kahn says openly to the public that the knicks have nothing he likes in exchange for rubio (not even david lee). kahn drafted rubio to either play, or be a part of a bigger deal than simply marc gasol

on memphis end, rubio refused to work out for memphis, and there is absolutely no chance he would ever want to play there. he would sit in barcelona until memphis turned around and traded him again, thus turning any deal into a headache for them. also, the grizzlies traded pau gasol to the lakers to get marc gasol, so id like to think that they would stay committed to him, especially considering the impending character issue zach randolph will surely have sooner or later. given gasol's age, and talent, why would memphis ever make this deal? as you say, 15 and 9 is no fluke, and hes young. you dont trade talented bigs for guards

i never called marc gasol a fluke, and i actually like him as a player quite a bit, but its not worth dealing rubio for, when weve already seen at least one team try and offer more already, and weve still got another year and a half for him to continue to get better, and become more valuable in spain

the proposal has a 0% chance of ever happening, or even being discussed for that matter, for many reasons

Frankly, the Houston offer was not very good. Battier is a 31 yr old who is guaranteed for 7.5M in 2010. We already had a version of Brooks in Jonny Flynn.

David Lee, while talented, is another undersized post that we have similar players of in Jefferson and Love.

The question of the Memphis deal was never about if they would do it. You said it was a poor proposal because the deal was for "just Gasol". IMO none of the three deals have any chance of happening, but I would also say that the most likely would be Memphis. They need a PG and we need a C. Honestly, I would maybe even deal Flynn for Gasol, and I am a HUGE Flynn backer.

well at least youve acknowledged this, and see my point

flynn straight up for gasol would start to make sense, but rubio is to either play here, or be a part of a big time trade

also, the idea that memphis needs a point guard is only based on the original poster's opinion, other than that, i havent seen anything official that indicates that memphis is looking for a pg..all ive seen is that they seem comfortable turning mayo into their long term pg

That surprises me - you think Flynn is a more valuable asset then Rubio? I'll admit it's pretty hard to compare the two right now, but I've always had the impression that everyone still thinks Rubio is the better player of the two and the more valuable trade asset...
