KG controls the locker room.......

Post#1 » by Kefa461 » Thu Feb 4, 2010 10:58 am

“We’re not a team here that points fingers, we keep everybody accountable, everybody knows what this is in the locker room. We have anything to be said, it’s said in the closed confinements of the locker room and to each other as men, and I want everybody here to respect that.’’

also.....Marquis Daniels (thumb surgery) plans to practice today, but likely will not return to action before the Celtics visit New Orleans Wednesday. But Daniels could play against Orlando Sunday “if he’s ready,’’ Rivers said. “It’s feeling better, a lot better,’’ said Daniels. “The only thing is that first slap on it. Other than that, it’s better.’’

You should rename this to KG calls Rondo a whiny immature little bitch.

Didn't Ainge already talk to Rondo about this in the off-season?

It's amazing how someone who can't shoot can be so full of themselves and speak out of line.

I think this whole situation is getting a little over-blown. If Pierce speaks out on the team, he is a leader (viewtopic.php?f=8&t=978312), but if Rondo speaks out he is a whiny immature little bitch? I don't think KG was directing that statement negatively at Rondo, but more like "see, this is how you do it buddy". Rondo did put his money where his mouth is last night, IMO.

Rondo needs to accept the fact that KG/Pierce still outrank him and are still generals and as long as they're around, Rondo should be seen and not heard. Ray Allen has been demoted from general to lieutenant colonel and Rondo now outranks him and gotten a promotion up to colonel, but still hasn't made general yet and is below KG/Pierce. I think we were all thinking the same thing.

This was during the post game news conference that usually has KG and Paul up at the mics but this rime it was Rondo. A question was directed to Rondo about his comments. KG spoke up and answered the question with the preface that he wasn't speaking for Rondo. After KG's answer he asked if there were anymore questions. Of course there were not anymore because the room had become silent. Then he got up and said let's go to Rondo. Rondo said nothing and they walked out. KG flexed his muscle with his mouth and showed he is still the leader! I was in awe watching it live.

Not true. I was told he's a better shooter than Paul Pierce

I don't mind Rondo speaking out, but he doesn't have the cachet of Piece, KG, or Ray...still, he did back it up last night, apart from his usual **** FT shooting

It's amazing how people can take the same quote and draw contradictory conclusions from it.

To me, KG was speaking in defense of Rondo and the hub-bub generated by Rondo's comments. Rondo didn't take offense, nor did KG intend any.

This is all an example of KG answering a question he didn't want to answer with words that pretty much precluded any follow-up questions. If anything, it was a lesson to Rondo in one respect: that's how you make controversy disappear, young fella.

it was a bit of a smackdown for rajon but that's fine. i don't think he took it poorly. young players sometimes forget that the media is not their friend. they become buddies with beat writers and tell them stuff they shouldn't. the media is out to get a story and stir up readership, and if it affects players badly they could give a f. this should be a lesson to rajon that the only people you should talk to like you trust are your teammates.

That's how I took it, too...I was referring to Rondo's initial comments. I agree with what he said, but he might not be the right guy to be saying it...

I saw the interview after the game, it was KG answering a question from a reporter, basically saying "we handled it on our own, we will continue to handle these types of issues on our own, and now it's a dead issue". There was no calling anyone out or any implied message to Rondo or anyone else.

As far as all this talk about how Rondo shouldn't speak up if there is a problem.....nobody was complaining when Perk made comments to the media about the team's lack of effort or focus on the defensive end. We called it a sign of his maturity and expanded presence on the team and in the locker room. We also won 15 of the next 17 games after he spoke up.

If a younger player calling his teammates out will motivate them to play harder, I don't see what the problem is.

^you're right, Perk doing that was fine...I guess my feeling is, Perk has worked on things and developed and improved a lot, so I'll listen to him. Rondo is a great player but he's still a horrid shooter, both from the field and the FT line...and never mind improving, in his 4th season, if anything, he's regressed...so why am I going to take it as seriously if he can't even work on his own shortcomings, you know? And don't get me wrong, I love Rondo, I think he's the best PG we've had in 20 years, but still...

Rondo's original comments were speaking in favor of unselfish play and a team-first attitude. He didn't mention anyone by name, it just had the effect of stoking the media fires. KG surely got him in line on that last part, but I don't see Rajon as the problem here.

He is the one with the ball in his hands, and you have a lot of guys, old and young, who want him to get it in theirs. No doubt he does a very good job of this, and that speaks for itself.

More concerned with what happens on the FLOOR than in the locker room or in the media.

goood, KG needs to re-establish himself as the face of this team for it to be successful, he is who we are, unselfish, a team. Enough of this PP trying to play Kobe out there notice how many more assists we dished out last night w/o him.

Rondo has definitely regressed as as a free throw shooter- I haven't checked the numbers on the rest of his shooting- but I'll take your word for it.

Still, Rondo has improved a ton this year- he's more assertive, he's often the best player out there on the floor (which is a function of the age of the other guys but still), and he's the one making things happen. He's earned the right to speak- Garnett knows that which is why he didn't say he was speaking for Rondo- Garnett was just being smart and avoiding any more conftroversial stories- that's the last thing the Celtics need right now.
