OT - Walsh disapointed with Knicks

I understand the top brass always has to so they expect their team will win the championship. But isn't everyone surprised at how well the Knicks are playing this season? At the start of the season the Knicks were picked to be one of the bottom teams in the league and now they are knocking of the door of the playoffs. I just used the words playoffs and Knicks in the same sentence.

I failed with the knicks and golden state answers, and was shocked when I got the answers.

Well, when your coach changes his rotation every 2-3 weeks and a significant organizational priority is to desperately try to build Jared Jeffries' trade value, how can you be surprised by an up and down season so far? They have young talent delivering, but the rest of the soap opera in NY is stalling whatever momentum they build during stretches.

I thought they would be what the Nets are so yeah I think they should be pretty pleased with what a roster full of guys who are basically considered totally disposable by the front office have done.

I looked back at where I had them ranked before the season started, 26th, and they're currently 21st now and struggling (probably returning to expected form), so I'd say I'm not that surprised. I was never expecting them to be contending for the playoffs at any point, but when you look at the roster (guys like Harrington, Lee, Robinson, Chandler, and Gallo) and payroll, I could understand how Walsh would be disappointed. They really weren't that terrible of a team

They are a rebuilding team. Best course of action is to play the young guys. Give them some experience and build some value. Get some nice draft picks. Hope you get some with star potential. And trade some of your young talent for veterans talent. Particularly those who dazzle but you have doubts about their upward projectory. (Like we did with Ron Mercer and should've done with Gerald Green).

I don't think they are in that bad of shape. I mean rebuilding is supposed to be painful. You have to endure some losing before you get around to winning. If anything they might be not playing their young folks enough causing them to win a bit too much for their own good.
