Blue Jays sign Wade Townsend

Probably the only interesting aspect of this story is that the guy was drafted 8th overall-- twice. Since then he's basically been ravaged by injuries so I'm not expecting much of anything.

Wow, the Jays are just loading up on guys with injury history, in the hopes of catching lightning in a bottle.

There really is no lightning here. Despite being drafted 8th overall twice and being injury riddled, he has never put together any close to respectable numbers at ANY level. Not to mention most recently failing at rookie ball after coming off major surgery.

It's too bad because when he was at Rice he actually was the better pitcher than two of his teammates who were drafted ahead of him.

We just love gobbling those former 1st round picks don't we? Adam Loewen, Bryan Bullington, Lance Broadway, Wade Townsend.

It's not a bad idea. These guys are low cost, low risk players that were once highly regarded.

Add Chris Dubanski to that list of former 1st round picks signed by the Jays as well.

I actually like it. Why the hell not? If we do catch lightning in a bottle, great!

If not, who cares?

Actually the only real interesting thing about this guy is that his name is Wade Townsend. Certainly not a Bocock, but close enough I guess.
