Why not just suck it up and do a trade like this?
3 way with Chicago and Minny where we get Hinrich and Gomes and Ray comes back.
We could send out our first this year and in 2012, heck maybe even 14 with heavy protection. Minny has Blounts contract still that could go to Chicago as it is about the same money as Kirk.
The only problem I see is that getting Ray back we would lose his bird rights. We'd have to find a way to get him some more money to make up for whatever he ends up leaving on Minnys table. What was the rule change about offering players deals that would go longer than they wanted to play? Would anything stop us from giving Ray MLE money for 5 years? figure hes gonna play 3 more and then let him retire or trade the contract.
Perk
Need someone good
Gomes
Kirk
Rondo
thats not a bad start to our next era. It might be worth sacrificing some picks. I have to think Chi lets Kirk go for 2 firsts and Minny lets Gomes go for one. Its a bold move but it leaves us with a really good team.

Why in the world would Chicago do this again???? Bulls don't want to just dump Hinrich's contract, they want atleast a player that can play in the rotation.
If Bulls just wanted to dump somebody it would be Salmons coz we have to worry about him opting in. There is a deal already (rumor) on the table with Bulls and Orlando. Bulls send Salmons to Magic for JJ Redick.

The only way a trade of Ray Allen going to another team and then the team buying him out would work is if that team has no interest in making the playoffs this year. Chicago is trying to make the playoffs.

Why would any team buyout Ray Allen so he can resign with the Celtics? The man can still play. Celtics would probably need to toss in another 1st and a 2nd and the cash to buy him out for it to happen - and it'd have to be a future 1st.

Good idea Hemingway. Let's just "suck it up" and do a deal where we get three rotation players in exchange for none.
It's particularly attractive for the Bulls since Chicago doesn't dump as much salary as it'd like to, and gets nothing worthwhile in return.
You really need to think some of your posts through before you subject others to them. Get real.

What's the obsession with Hinrich? He plays the same position as our star guard and isn't great at guarding 2's (ie Vince, Kobe) which he'd need to be. If we trade Ray for anybody (which we probably won't), it should be for a swing man in the form of Deng or Iguodala, that can grow with Rondo/Perk.
But I'll give you one thing, I love Gomes and would love to have him back.

Hinrich is fantastic at guarding 2 guards.
He plays the same postion as Ray Allen... not a "star guard"
Hinrich is essentially Delonte West with PG skills and is a better defender.

This.
I don't think many people here have seen a lot of Hinrich. Our offense, which goes through droughts now, would be even worse with Hinrich- he's a marginally double digit player and has actually regressed offensively from when he first came into the league. I mean everyone gets on Ray (and rightfully sometimes) and he's shooting 45% from the field for the season.
Hinrich, even in his best years, has never shot that- even now he's a sub 40% shooter for the year. I'll repeat that: he shoots 38% from the field. He's a solid defender- but he's not going to make a huge difference for our team defensively- he's not going to stop or even limit Kobe or any of those big time players. He's more turnover prone than Allen.
I swear some of you just latch on to this guy who seems like a solid all around player (it was Robert Swift for a while) and just cannot get over said guy- Hinrich will not be an upgrade over Ray (though Gomes would be nice and I, too, would love if we could aquire him) and our chances for a championship this year would decrease.
If you don't think we can win this year, then yeah, get this deal done. If, you think, as I do, that we still have a chance to turn things around, then shaking our core nucleus for this trade would just be detrimental to the team.
Damn

Do they really expect something back for Hinrich? He's so expensive for a backup, I can't see anyone give much at all. Dumping Salmons makes more sense though.

If we don't think we can win this year, I don't think having 9 mil per invested in Hinrich is a great idea either.
Downgrading Ray to Hinrich makes no sense at all.
Dumping the lesser expirings for Hinrich would make plenty of sense from a talent perspective but is just scary from a luxury tax standpoint. I don't know if Chicago is looking for more in return; but I doubt they can get more. Unfortunately, I do think they'd be more likely to send him to LA.

I like Hinrich. The comparison to Delonte West is a good one. Like Delonte, during the course of a game he'll produce, but he is not someone you can depend on for end of game situations. It's enough of a talent downgrade (and equally important, overpriced salary expenditure) to require a high upside guy like Ty Thomas in return or Salmons and a future lotto protected 1st round pick.
Basically you would be getting a marginal starter/excellent reserve player in Hinrich at a cost that should get you nearly two Kirk Hinrichs.

Baylor is Brat.

You guys are seriously over rating Gomes. He's a nice role player off the bench. Not a starting SF.
