Are the Jazz and the Nuggets...

Post#1 » by Pappyman » Sat Feb 6, 2010 6:19 am

the two best teams in the Western Conference? I think they are. I think that the Lakers' record is inflated because the Pacific Division is weak. If I were to pick two teams that I would see as favorites to meet in the Western Conference Finals, I would have to lean towards the Jazz and the Nuggets right now. The Jazz are almost unstoppable on offense as of late and their defense is the best in the NBA right now. Denver just abused the Lakers in Los Angeles. The game tomorrow night is going to be huge.

We've already beat them once this year. Now if you mean in a 7 game series... I would go with that unless we had home court advantage for some odd reason. Then we have a slight chance of beating them.

Basketball is a game of match ups and momentum. Yes the Lakers are a tough team for the Jazz to match up and granted we've had problems beating them in the past. Even so, the Jazz have the players to beat the Lakers. The Jazz are playing well right now and have some momentum, If they keep playing this well at playoff time, the Jazz can definitely beat the Lakers.

Anyway, big game tomorrow...let's go Jazz!

Meh, I want to see the Jazz beat a healthy Lakers team. Anyways, the Lakers are playing bad, 6-4 in their last 10. We have a chance if they don't start playing great again soon.

No, the Jazz can't beat the Lakers in a 7 game series. Let's not kid ourselves. Outside the "anything is possible" angle, there's nothing to show that the Jazz would be able to pull that off.

But we could beat any other team in the WC right now.

I think we can beat the Lakers. Simply put, they are worse this year. For one, Ariza was better for them than Artest. I don't know if Kobe's teammates have the same championship drive as last season, they are a worse road team, Kobe is banged up (although that's not stopping him). Also, Odom's numbers are pretty much down this season, his FG% is 4.8% less than last season. Fisher is worse too.

On the contrary, we are no doubt better this seson than in previous years. We just have to win one in LA and I like our chances.

And the Nuggets totally made the Lakers look soft, particuarlly Bynum, late in the game last night. We can't let them go nuts from downtown. One dude that scares me is Aaron Affalo, 45% from downtown this season, and it's probably about 75% against us.

I usually think you are fairly accurate in your opinions. this time I must disagree, if the Jazz play as well against the Lakers as they have the past half dozen games they are very capable of beating them.

Last night watching them squeek by half of a Denver team it became painfully obvious to me that we are not going to be able to beat a full Denver team, in the playoffs, with Ronnie Brewer as our starting 2 guard.

I would say that holds true for the Lakers as well.

That wasn't a "squeak by". The Jazz held control, even if they didn't win by 30.

I'm pretty cautious to say that yes we can beat the Lakers but with everything that is happening right now there is now reason why we can't. We did have a controlled win over Denver last night, granted, they were missing their two best players. The Jazz just can't afford having an off quarter with teams like Denver or LA. Last night we played terrible in the 3rd quarter, if we would have kept up the pace, I think we would have blown them out.

The Jazz need to prove themselves road-worthy against every team now. If not, the Jazz are in no place to be considered a top contender in the West.

Not sure which game you watched...but when you allow a team with its two best players out to get within a basket midway through the 4th, youre squeeking by.

The Jazz did not play well, yet they still won by double digits. I'll take that anyday...

Gotta agree with the Nugs fan here. We didn't play great considering the circumstances. It was way closer than it should have been.

A win is a win.

For a Nuggets fan, it's nothing to be ashamed of losing to the eventual division champions...

Denver has a solid bench and it shows by them competing strongly through out the game. We would need a perfect series right now to beat LA or Denver. If we had another big to help D when Chauncey, Carmelo, or Kobe drive the lane then we have a much better chance. But right now we have to have High FG%, very little TO, and dominate the boards for us to have a chance in a series.
