Re: Around The NHL
So far the only name from Jersey I've heard is Oduya. But Bergfors is definitely in this. If they did this without giving up Zajac or Langenbrunner then Lou is a ****ing master.
Other rumors that are picking up: Peter Mueller to Montreal for a 3rd rounder and Halak to Dallas for Morrow and a 2nd.

Lou isn't a master. A monkey could have made this deal. We're talking about dealing with Don Waddel who traded Braydon Coburn for Alexi Zhitnik, and Hossa for a bag of pucks.
Dallas won't trade Morrow. He is the Dallas Stars. And Peter Mueller won't be traded for a 3rd rounder.

I know what you're thinking. We're in the middle of a city, what's a hawk doing there?

Kovy for Bergfors, Oduya, Cormier and a first
Not a bad deal at all for the Devils. Oduya has been bad this year and Cormier obviously has major baggage. Bergfors is legit and a first is nice..but damn I would not be upset to be a NJ fan

Modano is the Dallas Stars, whether you bring stats into it or not.
And the fact that Lou managed to sneak in with a deal like that with all the names that have been thrown around just shows how good of a GM he is. And he's been the best GM in the NHL for a pretty long while now; he always brings in guys that people lift their noses at, yet they fit perfectly and play great for them. If he can manage to re-sign Ilya, there's no doubt he's the best GM in hockey.

The best gm in hockey may be a little too much praise, though i think Tim is probably downplaying the move on his part. Don Waddell is an idiot though, so Tim does have a point there
If they resign Ilya, than its an absurd deal. If he walks, merely a good one

Re: Around The NHL
Riding up the escalator as intermission was about to end, I check twitter on my blackberry and almost blew a gasket, kovy to the devils for crap. Then I watched the bruins choke away a 2 goal lead to the habs, that's when I blew my gasket.
Either blow it up (trade sturm, wideman, ryder, thomas)
or
Dish out your assets to the tampa bay lighting for a guy like vinny or st. louis.
Second one isn't happening, so it looks like this season the b's are gonna be in tank mode.

Re: Around The NHL
Now do you understand why I shat on Ryder, CC? The guy has the emptiest stats ever.
Like I told you guys on the Bruins board, the Bruins last year were the carbon copy of my Habs when they finished 1st in the East. Everyone played out of their minds and then came back down to earth the next year. But instead of Higgins, the Kostitsyns and Plekanec, it's Ryder, Krecji, Wideman and Thomas.
Anyways, let's work out our trade on the Fantasy Pool dude!

Mike Modano was the Dallas Stars. Ever since 2 years ago, the team turned into Morrow's.
And I'm not denying he is a great GM, he is, but it's not like he needed to think about what to trade with Waddel. All he had to do was look at the past trades Waddel has made and realize you can get Kovalchuk for a lot less than what is expected. And whatever names were thrown out, I don't believe them until I hear them from someone reliable. In the other thread, Backstrom and Fehr were not offered. Washington would be so stupid to trade Backstrom for a rental player. I will bet my life that he wasn't offered.

I know what you're thinking. We're in the middle of a city, what's a hawk doing there?

Re: Around The NHL
So, there's nowhere else to post this where people will see it, but I was at the Michigan-Wisconsin game at Camp Randall last night and it was awesome. Badgers score twice in the final 5 minutes with the game winner with 90 seconds left and beat the Wolverines 3-2. 55,000 people there, it was great. I'll post pictures later on.

I'm not so sure it was Gainey calling it quits, as opposed to the Habs org. being kind and saying that in order to keep Gainey's image in Mtl. I personally believe he was asked to step down, but I guess we'll never know for sure.
