I would prefer Iggy as well BUT he needs the ball in his hands a lot way more than Caron Butler does. Maybe if we didn't have Hedo, Iggy would be a lot more effective but with Bosh, Bargs, Hedo, Jose and Jack there can only be so much touches to go around.

Caron would be the better fit for this team as he's a willing passer, tough defender and good without the ball.

Getting Butler on the Raps could be the most realistic, low risk/high reward scenario for this team.

So because he hit one shot, we should ignore the rest of the season? Right .

What do you mean ignore the rest of the season? His scoring has dropped a bit, as has his FG%, he is identical in every other category. The guy averaged 20.8 ppg just last season. IF he played on a winning team, with players that actually facilitated his game, he could easily put up similar numbers this year..... Even in this so called "bad" year, Butler is putting up better stats than Turkoglu.

Finally, you will see experienced players like Butler, Turkoglu take it to the next level in the playoffs (hopefully), and that is when we'll see their real value. If BC can get Caron without dealing Derozan, (Calderon + Amir), he should get it done ASAP.

I love the idea of getting a star wing, but i think we should consider a real back up C behind Bargs.

Like who - we've already got two in Rasho and Johnson, and with Evans playing soon, PF/C really aren't our weaknesses right now.

i agree, someone like Butler or Iggy who are great defenders is what we need. Personally id rather keep Demar and develop him then send him out in a Iggy deal, thats why i want Butler.

Iggy would be much better than Caron for us, plus he's the same age as Bosh.

http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.ph ... id=5438646

DeMar, Amir, and Banks for Iggy works in the trade checker.

If Philly is looking to get back some young talent and expirings for Iggy, this is the best deal for them.

If Philly doesn't care about getting value back in a trade and want to simply dump both Iggy and Delambert's contracts for an expiring, then they will looks elsewhere.

I am staying away from any trade including us giving up Derozan. Especially in a trade for iggy. Derozan upside is prolly closer to iggy than any other player and I am not a big fan of his game for a Raps need. I'd even be unhappy to do it for Amir but if they came calling then I think I would have to sign off. Atleast that way Iggy can slide over to the 3 and have Derozan play the 2. Right now I'd persue a Caron Butler deal though. Hes a better fit for imo.

DD will probably end up being a player like Iggy, but the Raptors need that talent now to contend in this year's playoffs to either help convince Bosh to resign or have Iggy be our contingency plan.

So if a deal is on the table for Iggy, and DD is involved, the Raptors really need to make that trade.

If Bosh leaves, I dont want all my money tied up with iggy and hedo. Plus you agreed with me that Derozan probably ends up like iggy so it would make sense that we keep him. We`ll have him at a far less cost then iggy I would assume.

It's not a guarantee that DeRozan becomes Iggy, and Iggy is still only turning 26.

I think DeRozan has the potential to provide the offense that Iggy does without the ball in his hands, but to be as good a defender and passer is still an unknown.

I like DD and I'd hate to trade him, but an Iggy deal is so tempting.

heres more about Caron from Hoopsworld

A decided downer of a rumor montage from Hoopsworld...

http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=15224

Time To Blow It Up: The Washington Wizards are in a tough spot. Their highest paid player – Gilbert Arenas – is untradeable due to his current suspension and lengthy contract. The player that may be the easiest to move – Caron Butler - is their best players on both ends of the floor. The Wizards most coveted player – Antawn Jamison – is the one player they don't want to move, but are settling in to the reality that it's time to go in a new direction.

Sources close to the situation said that the Wizards seem ready to hold a fire sale and clear out the roster. None of the current roster wants to be part of a Wizards' future and none of the Wizards' players beyond Randy Foye has any real value beyond this season, including Nick Young who the club had high hopes for.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are seriously interested in Antawn Jamison, but are not offering anything more than an ending contract. While shedding the contract dollars of Jamison helps on the financial side, it's not going to make Washington a salary cap player without additional moves and it sends out a player management feels can help them in the future as a leader and a mentor without returning any real talent.

The Wizards have had talks with Portland, Dallas, Houston, Phoenix, The Clippers and New Jersey about Caron Butler. None of those teams are offering a "blow your skirt up" level of talent infusion, as one insider characterized it, it was ending contracts and low level talent.

Wizards' center Brendan Haywood is of interest to the Portland Trail Blazers and to the Houston Rockets, mainly because he's a serviceable big man that is on an ending deal. Both teams have a need for a veteran center and with his ending deal there are no long term ties and he's an easily tradeable center this summer if things don't work out. Sources say that both teams are offering next to no value for Haywood and both seem interested in poaching a big, without sending anything back to Washington.

See a trend developing? The Wizards have a number of trade offers and absolutely none of them bring talent back to Washington. In fact none of the offers include draft picks of any substance.

The Wizards understand they have no future as constructed and seem ready to do something about it, however if they unload what talent they do have on the roster, without returning anything meaningful in the deal the belief is the club would be worse off than it is now.

The Wizards could be one of the more active teams at the trade deadline on February 18th, however if the teams at the table don't start offering a brighter future in their offers, the Wizards might sit out the deals, not because they want to, but because they can't afford to just give away what talent they have.

The thing that is pissing me off, is that i know BC will NOT get a guy like Butler. He just doesnt seem to fit BC's good attitude guys. I WOULD LOVE to have butler, but sadly it will not happen.

When has Butler been characterized as having a bad attitude?

honestly the Butler deal is better for us. Id rather develop Derozan then get Iggy and his contract. That 2 part deal i made for Butler would be ideal. By 2011 we have Stevenson/Banks to expire and get a PG or position of need. We have Butler to fill in for Derozan till hes ready.

Jack/Boykins/Banks
Butler/Belinelli
Hedo/Derozan/Weems
Bosh/Evans
Bargnani/Johnson/Nesterovic

then in 2011 we have the expiring contract of Stevenson/Banks/Evans/Butler but i would use Banks + Stevenson and get back a PG, however i dont know if Washington wants Jose.
