Kahn on KFAN

Post#1 » by john2jer » Mon Feb 8, 2010 5:37 pm

He was very blunt about not trading Al Jefferson unless he's completel blown away by an offer.
He also made it quite clear he had no interest in Kevin Martin because of his contract.
He ended the phone call when PA mentioned Rudy Gay.

Does that mean Gay's a target in the offseason?

He also said it would take something VERY bizarre happening for Rubio to even have a slim chance of playing here next year, 2010. Anyone with common sense knows that, but I doubt that gets any sports media mention, as opposed to the garbage coming from New York.

Ended the phone call? In what sort of manner? I'm picturing this...

"So, Rudy Gay..."

I was assuming it was:

PA "so about we talk about getting gay?"

*click*

PA: :(

So our future team is going to be
Rubio/Flynn
Turner/Ellington
Gay/Brewer
Love
Jefferson
+ an athletic big

I can live with that.

+ at least 1-2 other 1st round picks and Pekovic.

I can also live with that.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

This was pretty much how it went. I believe the phone call will be on KFAN.com so you can listen later. It was at the very end oft he 10am hour, beginning of the 11am hour.

I'm assuming it was a combination of not wanting to get hit with tampering fines, and potential interest.

Frontcourt - Jefferson/Love/Athletic 3rd big man(Hollins?)
SF - Gay/Brewer
Backcourt - Turner/Flynn/Brewer/Ellington/(Rubio)

Plus Pekovic, extra 1sts, Gomes and Sessions to upgrade that 3rd big man and the deep bench.

It was definitely interesting how he abruptly ended it. I think I'd agree with j2j that it was probably a combo of interest and being careful about tampering.

Sounds like he probably wouldn't trade for him at the deadline and give up assets right now though. More like he'll either try to outright sign him in FA, or work out a S&T instead of giving up assets now and still having uncertainty about Gay's contract price.

I agree with E-sohorny about the FA or S&T route, as opposed to a deadline deal. We'll still probably see something moderate in the next week and a half here. It's so exciting.

So is that David Kahn interview in that link. It seems like they are just talking about football.

2/8 - More Calls/ SBXLIV
PA takes plenty of phonecalls from rube nation who want to talk about the Superbowl. How did you feel during the game? Lots of good talkers this hour as we look forward to the offseason.

On top of his contract, injury concerns, etc., I think they like Brewer matched up against 2's way more than 3's

I've watched him against Toronto. Haven't been impressed. Average at best on defense and he shot over 15 times although hitting only few.

Maybe just a little. He seems to be a Gay kinda guy. Maybe he want "Gay" "Love" "Sessions".
