Danny's Strategies

Post#1 » by galbilo73 » Mon Feb 8, 2010 8:29 pm

I'm tying to figure out the strategy of D.A.

I think that he's waiting last days before the trade deadline to understand if this team (which I love indeed and I think that is still capable to reach conference finals) and this project deserve another couple of years. Trhe other options is that this group reach its limits and is time to rebuilt around Rondo and Perk.

If the answer is “go ahead with this project for a couple of more years (let's say when KG comes out of the book), I think we can not expect any major trade before the deadline, but something to provide the team with a backup PG. (using Scal, BBD, TA and Giddens contracts)

If the answer is "this year we are not going anywhere, we need to start to rebuilt around Rondo and Perk" I think Danny will make more then a trade during next weeks.

In this second scenario I tried to immagine a couple of trades:

1st trade:
Ray Allen from BOS to PHI
Iguodala and Kapono from PHI to BOS

2nd trade:
Scal, BBD, TA from BOS to MIN
Gomes and Sessions from MIN to BOS

Both trades work in the trade checker. This leaves us with:

Rondo/Sessions
Iguodala/House
PP/Daniels/Kapono/Walker
KG/Wallace/Gomes
Perk/Williams

You are basically saying that a bigger, more drastic trade like moving Ray Allen is a white flag for this season. I don't agree with that. I think there are Ray Allen trades that make us better (or just as good) now while helping us for the future as well.

So do I, just not Kevin Martin.

Kevin Martin is not that bad though. Would he be that bad an option as the 3rd option? I mean currently he's the one option in sactown. The only problem is that he's strictly offense.....which is the biggest thing that concerns me. After seeing Eddie House get schooled night in and night out by any oppsing PG. I've had enough with only scoring and no defense players.

Well it look pretty simple:

1) If possible trade Ray contract for near all star caliber sg or sf... If management approves taking back one bad contract take it, but should not be longer than till 2012(2 extra years)
2) Try to find back up sf that can spread the floor, defend, shoot 3pt...again contract should not be longer than till 2012.
3) Pay notice who gets cut

If no Ray trade I hope we at least find that sf...Raya Bell, Nocioni...

^ FWIW Bobby Simmons may be cut if the Nets can't find a trade.http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wireta ... e_simmons/

I see Kevin Martin as a sideways move unless another player comes in with him. He is not that good of a player that he is going to fix our problems on his owen. Unless we get the things we actually need (a decent back up 1 and 3) we probably would be not better off with Martin over Ray.
