I know the players are different and this obviously doesn't mean anything, but I find it interesting how the matchups are obviously in the Cavs favor this year, but when if you look at the guys as individual players, it's actually bigger for the Magic this year then last year.
You guys actually had better matchups last year in the starting lineup: 3-2 Cavs, this year it's 3-2 in Magic's favor.
Last year:
Mo>Rafer
Delonte>Lee
Lebron>Turkoglu
AV<Shard
Z<Dwight
Bench=Magic
Coach=Magic
This year:
Mo>Jameer(could be generous considering Jameer was the true all-star last year)
Delonte/Parker<Vince
Lebron>Barnes
AV/JJ<Shard
Shaq<Dwight
Bench=Even(at best for the Cavs)
Coach=Magic
Obviously the Lebron matchup is bigger than last year and the Dwight is less, but you add Vince and Jameer instead of Rafer and Lee and that's closer in the backcourt.
I'm not using this saying the Magic would beat the Cavs or anything, because right now I doubt anyone beats the Cavs with the way they are playing, but I was thinking about the matchup from last year to this year and found it funny how "Cavs didn't match up so well against the Magic last year, but certainly match up much better this year", but if you look at the individual matchups it's the opposite. The only individual matchup you guys need though is #23.
Thursday should be a lot of fun. I hope we don't get as embarrassed as last time now that we have not one, but 2 stretch 4's playing and I hope Dwight keeps his emotions in check and doesn't pick up quick fouls in the first half like he has the tendency to do in national televised big games.
