Moderator Behaviour

Post#1 » by Silver Bullet » Wed Feb 10, 2010 12:09 am

The moderator behavior on this site is going from bad to worse and despite repeated posts in the feedback forum, the administration just keeps turning a blind eye.

It is not too much to ask that moderators give an explanation for locking/merging/deleting threads or for giving warnings.

This has been going on for too long. There are certainly problem posters on this site, and there are people of all age groups. But some of us are middle aged men, and do not appreciate being treated like 14 year olds.

Can someone please do something about this ?

And it is not just me. Across the board, an overwhelming majority of the posters on this board feel disenfranchised and feel disrespected by moderator's behavior.

They did tell you before, but after awhile they just say "Refer to the TOS"

Im sure there's a good reason why they would lock/merge/delete threads.

Mods read the board everyday. Believe me they or anyone who has been around the Raps board for the past 6 months (not you) actually knows how repetitive a "should Bosh be re-signed to the max" thread is.

Depends. I know that I sometimes lock threads that are clearly inappropriate, derailed, or otherwise CLEARLY flawed with no explanation. But I don't know if you're referring to any boards I mod. Warnings should ALWAYS have an explanation, somewhere. What is bizarre is I don't know how you know that warnings are not getting explanations, because you haven't been warned for anything since about September.

Merging threads is under the discretion of the mods. That is self-explanatory: "this thread is redundant with this one, so I merged the later thread." If posts are deleted, then that is because of graphic or illegal content within them. If you're getting posts deleted, I'd be GLAD of no explanation. Because a warning or suspension would likely accompany it.

If you get a warning, and don't understand it, contact a moderator. Most boards have an email that you can use to do so. The lack of a PM function IS a bitch, but the mods can't do anything about that. We've been getting promised it's coming back for as long as I've been mod.

Hope that's helpful.

SB,

You're middle age? I thought you were like 18-21 year old.

Thank You for trying to explain. The point is, there is no harm in having more communication between the administration and the users... it doesn't take a whole lot to PM a guy if you're locking the thread or to add a post at the end when locking a thread. There was a time, when this procedure was more or less followed.

The problem is especially out of control on the Raptors thread. I don't remember the last time I created a thread that did not get locked within seconds.

I'm sure you've seen this...
