Camby = Championship
Getting Marcus Camby to contend with the Lakers and Nuggets Bigs could be the difference.
Here is a trade that works:
Jazz get Camby (have to pick a couple D league players on 10 day contracts rest of year).
LAC get Kosta, Korver, Nuggets #1 pick 2010 and Jazz #1 pick 2011
Memphis get Brewer for bench support
Jazz lineup
PG Williams Price Gaines
SG Miles Matthews Price (D Leaguer)
C Memo Camby Fess
PF Boozer Millsap AK-47
SF AK-47 Miles (D Leaguer)
Jazz get defender to help versus Lakers in an expiring contract.
LAC get 2 #1 picks plus Kosta for Camby (Korver contract filler but try them out)
Memphis get bench support in Brewer who has expiring contract only give up late #1 pick which they dont need.

Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

Re: Camby = Championship
Camby does have scary length that could help the jazz compete with the teams you mentioned
His contract isn't that bad either
Replace Korver with CJ in the trade and you got a deal

So the Jazz give up a first rounder, a starter, a rotation player, and last years first rounder, for a back up C?

well the first rounder would be a late 1st round pick, getting rid of CJ would be addition by subtraction and well I like Brewer but if he has to go to get the trade done than so be it

Re: Camby = Championship
Why not try to substitute some of the players and the pick for the trade exception.
That way you don't mortgage the entire future in the hopes that Camby works out for the next 3 months.

I dunno if anyone has noticed, but, Miles has been putting together some solid games.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Re: Camby = Championship
All the better time to trade him. I think losing one of our wings would help us quite a bit. Korver is playing one out of three games and costing 6 million. Might as well tighten up our rotation and get a useful player at the same time.

Re: Camby = Championship
I definitely think CJ is the most likely player to be traded. He's a lesser version of Matthews, he's not as good a shooter as Korver, and he's not the defender that Brewer is.
If the Jazz can get something back from him that will get them closer to a championship I don't see them hesitating at all to pull the trigger.

Yes, Camby=Championship....my question is, champion of what? He's sure improved the Clips defense.

Camby=overrated. He is a frail shadow of the DPOY player he use to be. This reminds me of last years trade for Big Ben threads.

Actually that's not true...105.9 and 106.3 pp100POS in Camby's last two years, 106.8 the next season, though their ranking did improve.
Also, they DID get the birdman to provide a huge spark off the bench.
Still, while I would love Camby, if we have to gut our wing rotation in order to get him I'll pass. We already have limited shooting on the outside.

Why don't we just throw in Boozer's left nut while we're at it. Camby isn't worth all that, and it's not even close. He is getting older every day, and he looks old.

Word is, South Beach is ecstatic that they
won't be seeing Millsaps talents again this season...

Look at opponent's FG%, that's a much better sign of defense than anything else...... It went down after Camby left.......
People equate shot-blocking and rebounding with defense, and that's just not always the case.......

I think Jazz' full roster is having fun and clicking right in front of our eyes... why on earth would Jazz FO do such a trade? Ok.. may be Fesenko's not that happy today... but... c'mon....

Huh? Did you just say that raw FG% is better than defensive efficiency? If so, you couldn't possibly be serious.

Re: Camby = Championship
I said Jazz trade Korver, Miles to LAC for Camby.
Who is saying that Camby still isnt a defensive force? He sured seemed to cause the Jazz problems last night. Ask Deron if he is still a defensive force.
As to why Denver got better defensively after he left, I think it has nothing to do with Camby and everything to do with Melo, Nene, etc. becoming better and more complete players and the addition of Billups.

Re: Camby = Championship
I think having Camby would help out greatly on the defensive end, especially in the playoffs. As long as we didn't have to lose a Major piece to this team and its future it is worth the 3 month rental.
With our trade exception (I believe around 6.5 Million) from the Harpring trade. We could package CJ for Camby. It would cost us more money for this year as we would have to pay the luxury on the extra. But I think it puts us in strong contention for the title.
Now, question is would Clippers do this? It would put their team salary around 51Million for the year and they would get a trade exception out of it.
