Dallas fan here
Have you guys heard many Kaman rumors that sound at least semi-legit?

I'm positive we'd have to take back Davis' contract to even get a stab at him but I'm not sure beyond that.

Damp
Carrol
Barea

for Davis and Kaman

works by the numbers but I guess it depends on how eager Sterling is to get away from Davis

So you're offering us crap + a crappy contract for a guy playing very well at one of the hardest positions to fill and a pretty solid pg?

That's never going to happen.

The Mavs don't have the pieces to trade for Kaman.

It's all about getting Davis' contract off the table

That's why I was asking if any other Davis/Kaman rumors were floating around

The only way I see a team taking Davis' contract is if Kaman or maybe Gordan are involved

If Sterling can stomach paying Davis 50 or so million the next 4 years then this is a pointless discussion

But yeah Beaubois is really our only young talent now so he'd probably be available in a deal
Howard is done....someone is going to over pay him this summer but he hasn't been the same player the past couple years

It is a pointless discussion. Yes, Baron is overpaid and perhaps untradeable on his own, but he has played better than last year and is at least a top 15-20 starting PG in the league. The Clippers won't package any of their core starters along with him just to move his contract.

I guess a year less on the contracts and Baron playing a little better makes a difference but from what all us Mavs fans were hearing last year was that the Mavs turned down a Kidd's expirer for Baron and Kaman at the deadline
No real way to prove that but we're all convinced for some reason it was out there so it gives us hope Kaman is at least kinda available haha

What do you guys think of this idea:

Clippers Get: Battier/Bibby
Clippers Give: Baron/Thornton

Hawks Get: Baron/Thornton
Hawks Give: Bibby/M. Williams

Rockets Get: M. Williams
Rockets Give: Battier

Hawks are doing pretty well so no chance this trade happening in midseason. They could just swap Williams/Battier if they wanted an SF.

Last year, maybe it was discussed because Sterling probably would have liked to dump both Davis and Kaman contracts. But Kaman is earning his pay this year, and Davis is good enough not to have to give away players to dump (meaning he's not hurting us on the court.)

So you forgot to mention the biggest difference between last year and this year- Kaman's play.

This is from Chad Ford...

Clippers get:
Andre Iguodala
Samuel Dalembert

76ers get:
Marcus Camby
Al Thornton
DeAndre Jordan
Rasual Butler
Mardy Collins
Ricky Davis
If the Clippers win the championship next year I'm getting banned from RealGM

Sold. I really like this deal. I'd hate giving up DeAndre, but he's unproven and if it takes giving him up to get this done I do it.

Iguodala's rebounding and playmaking abilities from the SF position is exactly what the Clippers need. I like this Ford's deal, too.

That completely kills our bench though. Our starting lineup would be awesome, but then who do we have to back them up? Can Dalembert play PF? Do we really want Novak taking over the backup SF position? and who backs up EJ?

See the problem with the deal above is we give all our bench players losing their bird rights. I actually only mean Butler and Thornton.
I'm for this deal if we could keep either Butler or Thornton and don't give any draft picks.

Something like;
Camby, Thornton, Jordan, Collins, R. Davis, Skinner and Telfair for Iggy, Dalembert and Royal Ivey

The problem has nothing to do with this year. The problem is we're at the luxury tax next year and filling out the bench will push us over. It'll be a bunch of guys at the veterans minimum pushing us over as well.

Would you trade Kaman for Dampier (DUST CHIP) and a Mavs first?
I guess you can net a star player or get another 1st for Damp's contract next offseason.

No we wouldn't.

We want to add to our current team and don't want to give away assets like Kaman in such a move.
We'll also be able to spend quite some money this offseason(if we don't do anything at all) and could be able to sign a player to a max type of contract if we're able to move Thornton/Telfair.

That's why Dampier and a late first round pick sometime around 2012 won't net you Kaman and would have a hard time getting you Camby as well.

what do you guys think of this. I've been trying to find a way to bring Iggy to Clippers. After 30min I came up with this. No draft picks involved.

Iguodala is too big of an investment for Sterling. The Clippers FO have only traded for short contracts with only one or two years remaining since Dunleavy came to town, and considering how complicated a deal it would have to be to bring Iguodala to LA, I'm thinking it's not going to happen.

Caron Butler was somebody I thought Dunleavy might go after, but he's off the table now. So far Dunleavy has thought outside the box with some of his moves that has surprised a lot of us fans. I think if Dunleavy makes a deal before the deadline, it won't be somebody we expect. My dark horse is Antawn Jamison.
