WT: Biedrins trades being explored

Post#1 » by Yoshi2kx » Fri Feb 12, 2010 9:26 pm

reason? To help "save money" Obviously OKC has the room and cap space to pull it off, but the question is.. does Presti pull the trigger if its there?

But what are the Warriors looking for?

I don't think Jeff Green will cut it. The Thunder do have picks available. I know Biedrins is struggling but I would love to get that kid.

I have a feeling they would like to shed Maggette's contract too. But he would have no where to get minutes in OKC.

Maybe a three team trade?

I think that we're in a situation that seemed pretty unlikely 4 months ago, where I'm not sure if we can trade Green for Biedrins because it might mess up a run to make the playoffs. I'm not saying this team (at this point) absolutely depends upon Green to make the playoffs, but without replacing his offense (even on his poor offensive nights) I feel that impact would be larger than anyone realizes. Especially during the minutes of every game where Durant is out and Green is in (usually IF Durant is out, Green is in).

I saw a trade idea of Harpring, Mullens, and DJ White PHX's pick for Biedrins. I'd be happy to part with that.

I don't think Jeff Green will be traded this deadline with the success the team is having. If Biedrins is available, then something would have to be done with expirings / picks. Otherwise, I don't think Sam Presti trades any of the core.

There are a bunch of players I'd trade Green for, not sure Biedrins is one of them.

I've never seen a fanbase so split on a player like GSW seems to be about Biedrins.. even more than us and Jeff Green.

I don't want Biedrins. His offense is non existent, he's 3 for 23 from the FT line (!!!!!!!!!!!!) and isn't THAT MUCH of an upgrade over our 20 year old rookie.

He's not going to shot that bad forever. He's a good rebounder, blocks some shots, and is usually a good finisher he lead the league in FG% a couple years ago.

I don't think Serge is in Biedrins' league.. especially as a finisher.

He's also bigger than Serge, probably stronger.

Hard to say who's stronger. But let's just keep Ibaka anyway.

I'd rather trade Green than Ibaka.

Biedrins has shown he can play center effectively.. he has better length than Serge and probably out weighs him by 10-15 pounds. Serge is more athletic and better suited to the four. Production wise, Biedrins is what we hope Serge will become, hopefully with more of an offensive game..

The only reason I'd balk at including Serge in a deal for Biedrins is money; we have control over Serge at a reasonable price for awhile.

Biedrins is a nice player. If we traded for him we would owe him 36 million after this season for the next 4 years. That is 9 million a year. So if the Thunder are willing to take that contract, that is doing a favor to GS. So I would give GS next to nothing for this guy. No First Round Picks or Core Guys.

I would not deal:
Kevin Durant
James Harden
Russell Westbrook
Jeff Green
Thabo Sefolosha
Eric Maynor
Serge Ibaka
B.J. Mullens

-Everyone but Mullens on this list has a big future in this organization. I don't think we should move any of these players. Eventhough I would understand moving Mullens if it brought in a taleted big.

I really wouldent want to move:
D.J. White
Kyle Weaver

-They are both injured and done for the year. But, they have tiny contracts, young, and maybe they can become more valuable.

These guys are moveable: (but their contracts are valuable)
Etan Thomas
Matt Harpring
Nick Collison
Nenad Krstic

-They could all be moved right now. In 18 months from now they might all be gone. I think we should move them to get the right guys in here. But, I just dont know if Biedrins is the guy (@ 9million). If he is THE GUY to bring in, does the Thunder still want Cap Room next season? If so we could move Krstic and Collison for Biedrins and Devin George. If we dont care about the Cap Room we can move Etan Thoms stright up for Biedrins. I think there are better moves. Biedrins is a nice player, but that is alot of money to invest.

btw - We could move them all for Amare and Jason Richardson (word is that Richardson must be involved in a trade of Amare).

Basically you're just saying you want to move your crap and rather not move anybody remotely capable of playing.

4 years 36 million is a ton of money for a guy who is have an awful year, for a small market team.

If Golden State really is looking to dump Biedrins, I think it makes the most sense for OKC to wait until draft day. At that point Kristic and Collison will be in the last year of their contracts, and if nobody is offering up immediate cap-room for Biedrins, an offer based around Kristic, Collison, and a 1st would be pretty solid. I'd probably even include both 1sts since it's unlikely OKC could add a contributor at that point in the draft given their depth of young talent.

That way, OKC would still have cap room and could add someone like David Lee if the price is reasonable. Those two additions would give OKC two big-time rebounders who are athletic and highly efficient on offense. I think Lee would be average at worst as a defender at the 4 given his quickness, size, and strength, and while Biedrins can get pushed around underneath defensively, his length and ability to protect the rim would be huge.

Westbrook/Maynor
Sefolosha/Harden
Durant/Green
Lee/Green
Biedrins/Ibaka

That team would be extremely deep, athletic, versatile, and talented. The only weakness I see is that it may get pushed around underneath on defense, but you can gameplan around that given all of the talent on the floor.

Biedrins was injured and is still getting back in shape. That he avg 11+ reb last year as the starting C,and leads the NBA in career FG%,ought to hint that he's not apt to be a giveaway. GSW will need a center, and not Collison or Krstic, but a LEGIT C. Those who are better...generally cost more and are a lot older or refrain from playing defense. If Bleed talent/suck/whatever/ is the agenda......then who knows, but the GM said they were exploring and nothing of benefit seemed to be happening.

If "Worst Case Scenario" was just fine, likely it would have happened by now

And those deals you can take to the corner garage sale,or try for Mbenga or whatever.
There are goonies who lack the sense to see that Biedrins just avg 11.2 2 reb at age 22 and NOBODY else on the team ever averaged 7+...meanwhile, getting outrebounded by 15-20 is typical of games GSW loses. $9 mill...you think that Sh*t for a starting C who's a top 5 rebounder? Do your homework kid, that's lowball money. Ya want cheap, go get Ryan Hollins.

I DOUBT even the GSW front office is foolish enough to trade the starting C for a sack of scraps. Who the hell does that ( except the Griz...and they did get M Gasol) Krstic? BJ Mulliins? We got a cheap guy for 3rd string.
