Piston fan here. How about.....

Hamilton
Summers
for

2010 1st rounder
J.R. Smith
R. Balkman
Johan Petro

I'm not sure how Denver fans would feel about this trade, so I'm throwing it out there. Hamilton is shooting a pretty bad percentage this year, but I think it has more to do with the current state of his team than it has to do with his age. He is still one of the best mid-range shooters in the game. He has no problem running the floor, and I think if Denver is serious about contending this year, they should look into trading for Rip. Chauncey and Rip are one of the top ten back-courts of all-time, they are a little older than their Piston days, but the chemristry between the two is unbelievable. If they had chance to go on another run as team-mates again, you can bet their going to give it their all. As a Piston fan, I would love to see them re-united.

From a Detroit-side, Smith probably wouldn't fit into any long term plans, but for the time being he can back-up Gordon. The 1st rounder I'm guessing will be in the mid to late twenties. Not to valuable, but could help find a decent role-player.

Denver has no interest in Rip and doesn't have a 1st. They already got their starting SG from Detroit. The place they need to improve on is big man depth, this doesn't do that.

How about you actually read the thread you are posting in, what about we would keep the younger player, who is playing better, while on a much better contract, and we do not have a 1st round pick, although if we did we would not be throwing it into a deal to downgrade, did you not understand?

Memphis currently owns the rights to the 2010 Nuggets pick, do they not?

They do. It was given away with Cash to have them take Hunter's expiring contract.

As a Detroit fan, I wouldn't do the initial deal. If we're not getting expirings for Rip, then whoever we get has to play a position where we don't have a logjam. Right now, we have too many guards. Trading Rip for another guard does nothing for us. And I don't like the idea of paying a 31 year old Birdman, either.

Also, I think Rip's issues this season are more injury related and us simply not being a very good team than him being a bad player. He just no longer fits in Detroit, where he's forced to distribute more and create his own offense more. Put him in the right environment and I guarantee he returns to form.

This thread really needs to die. Rip isn't an upgrade. His contract sucks. Why do we still think this is worthy of conversation?
