Anything having to do with Amare

Sources: Hickson, Ilgauskas to Suns

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Phoenix Suns are closing in on a deal that would send All-Star forward Amare Stoudemire to Cleveland, according to sources with knowledge of the negotiations.

The Cavaliers would send Zydrunas Ilgauskas and J.J. Hickson to Phoenix in exchange for Stoudemire,
one of the league's most dominant big man.

While Cleveland remains in talks with several other teams, the club, from management down to the players, has settled on Stoudemire as its first choice.

The ball is in Phoenix's court. The Suns are mulling whether the financial relief provided by Ilgauskas's $12 million contract and the young and talented Hickson are enough for them to part with Stoudemire.

Cleveland believes the addition of Stoudemire would all but seal LeBron James' re-signing with the team when he becomes a free agent this summer. The Cavaliers are also prepared to sign Stoudemire, who has one year and $17 million remaining on his contract, to a long-term contract extension once the season ends.

The Suns will likely waive Ilgauskas, which would allow him to be re-signed by Cleveland after 30 days.

Cleveland is also talking with Washington about acquiring Antawn Jamison, as well as Indiana about Troy Murphy. Meanwhile, Golden State is trying to entice the Cavs into taking Corey Maggette for Ilgauskas.

If true... Size the rings and print the hats !!

*If healthy* No team has a chance of beating us with Stoudemire...

I am trying not to get excited about this... So I will just remain pessimistic and wait until there is another source that will make a confirmation on this trade.

Since its not my money being spent and Jrich expires next year, if it required us taking him as well I would fly to Phoenix, stick him in a trash can and roll him to Cleveland myself.

We've been close on big trades before, So I will not get too excited about the potential of this one. And no way do I think it makes the Cavs a given to win it all. Hopefully it does all that however.

Amare has played alongside Shaq in the past and it didn't work out so well.

I'm still trying to figure out how you guys get Amare for absolutely nothing. Just like how the Lakers got Gasol for free.

Hmmm. . . . . .

theres a possibility we get him in a three way with philly, where suns would get iggy. no way i think cavs can get him in a straight up 2 team trade.

Would Amare have no issues running our pattented end of quarters, end of the game offense, watching LeBron dribble down the clock and typically take the last shot? I'm sure LeBron would like to keep him involved in these situations, but LeBron would still be taking the shot most often, and can Amare watch the LeBron James show in the clutch for the next 6 years?

If Kerr and the Suns take that deal then they are nuts.

For all the stupid sheeple out there, Amare for Z and J.J. does NOT work b/c the salaries do not work under the CBA.

There would have to be more to the trade such as another player or more or even another team or two.

ESPN reporting is a joke.

Szerbiak might be the filler to make the trade work. Gilbert would definitely be opening up the checkbook and paying alot more in luxury tax. Gilbert could nix the whole thing if he wants. He might just say enough is enough.

Wisedude42-

Tone it down a little.

Check out Windy's latest from last night:
http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf ... e_rum.html

"
But they also are involving the Houston Rockets, Utah Jazz and Philadelphia 76ers in trying to set things up. In recent weeks the Cavs have also had expanded talks with the Chicago Bulls about making them a partner. If that seems like a wide net, it is supposed to be.

There's often such expansive talks at this time as teams attempt to satisfy numerous needs with bigger deals. Usually, though, if anything gets done it is just between two teams. General Manager Danny Ferry did pull off a three-team deal at the deadline two years ago, however.

• Sources have indicated the Cavs have gotten "pretty far down the tracks" in talking to the Suns about Stoudemire. It has even gotten to the point that the sides have discussed small details like payment schedules and salary reimbursement options. At this time of year, because many contracts are pro-rated differently, there are such things to work out in a trade"

If you are a Cavs fan, you know BW is reliable. We all know where you stand on this rumor. We all will continue to talk about it. We are not stupid.

Yes there would have to be more to the deal in order to meet the CBA requirements.

The Cavs would also have to give Amare' a max deal this summer w/ all the teams that will have cap space. Not sure Amare' is worth the max esp w/ the a new CBA on the horizon. On the other hand w/ LeBron already in the fold the Cavs are one of the few teams that can afford to give someone like Amare' the max. It would be a risk w/ Amare's prior knee and eye surgeries. With that said the Cavs would have to make the trade if it 'only' involves JJ, Z's contract, and filler.
