Re: Keep It Real! discussing trades by the competition
Unless the Lakers plan on giving Shannon Brown a bigger contract, he needs to be involved in trades. He has a player option for next year....which he is not going to take, and some team is going to sign him to a 3 yr 12mill contract. Lakers are going to get nothing for him. His trade value is at a all-time high.

So basically what you're saying is Mitch is looking to get Hinrich or NOTHING? All roads lead to Hinrich, it seems thats what you are all saying. That road goes through portland? There has got to be a more realistic option we are missing. I just cant imagine the Lakers staying pat while the MAVS and Cavs maek themselves better.

My post was more in regards to Shannon Brown and how he can leave this summer. This guy has received so much pub lately. It would be stupid of us not to capitalize, unless we plan to give him a nice contract,

I wouldn't be opposed to including Shannon in a deal to get Hinrich. I know that Hinrich has somewhat struggled this season, but he's still a better defender and outside shooter than Brown, and considerably better overall than Fisher.
Damn near every player that has joined the Lakers in recent years has improved significantly in one way or another so I'm fairly optimistic that Hinrich would improve as well.
I don't know enough about what Portland/Chicago is looking for, but surely we can do something with Morrison/Brown (or Farmar).

Morrison and Brown could clearly do the deal the only problem being that that doesn't take care of the Vujajic problem.

Focusing on the negative, he worsens them defensively and takes playing time away from Varejao who is the best defender they have. He's going to get his usual 35 MPG, so that leaves limited time for Varejao at the 4 unless one or the other plays center, which is great for us. I really don't think the Cavs need another star player though. They have good pieces as it stands and would be risking quite a bit. Additionally, they can't be guaranteed that Ilgauskas gets bought out by March 1st. If he doesn't, then IMO the Cavs aren't going anywhere. Shaq will be forced into huge minutes and all you really have to do is go uptempo against them.
Anyway, I guess this upcoming week will be interesting.
Great moves by Dallas, BTW.
Another great point.

Re: Keep It Real! discussing trades by the competition
I am starting to think that the number one domino that falls that we all should be watching is the eventual T-MAC deal. If the Knicks drop Jefferies its gonna get all crazy. I say this because not only will that put the gun to the temple of the CAVS front office to make a significant deal i.e. Amare', Jamison, but it will set off a chain reaction as other teams position themselves to prepare for the Bron sweepstakes. Those that are contenders and who have no money to bring in the likes of wades or brons will be looking for vets to aquire that are to be cast off by the way side during the aftermath of the Wizards, Clippers, and Nets firesales... The 2010 -2011 is here folks and it begins with the T-MAC/Jefferies deal. I know it sounds ridiculous but once those two move its gonna be mad crazy! Who gains when this happens? Miami, Cavs, Bulls, Mavs, and hopefully the Lakers will get their hands in this mess and pull out a gem like Brown. Ainge is even getting itchy, so Mitch has got to be working on something!
