We (I mean DAL) plays Phoenix on Wednesday night at 9pm on ESPN. Who's watching?

I might have watched it anyway; I like watching Nash and co. against Nowitzki and co.

Thanks, Donkey, for once again bringing a smile to my face. That's funny! We have a new mascot, indeed.
My team is the Washington Mavericks!
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Watch Deshawn Stevenson turn out to be a crucial piece of Dallas' Championship Win VS the Cavs.

Baits Lebron into throwing a flagrant 2. Yes! I can't wait to see Stevenson whine, "Lebron's trying to hurt me out there."

Re: Official Game Thread: DAL vs PHO 2/17/2010
I'd be both shocked and thrilled if that were to happen.
but what would thrill me the most would be for CLE to
lose in the playoffs sooner rather than later. The only
good thing about a later loss is the Elway/Buffalo Bills
effect, to take their fans so close only to let them down.
Hopefully a key traveling call would be the dagger.

Honestly, Wizards luck says Stevenson finds his three-point shot and helps Dallas a bunch with his perimeter defense.
I'm not of the opinion the guy is the worst SG ever. I think he had some sort of mental lapse like Nick Anderson did years ago, when he couldn't make FTs. I think DeShawn had confidence problems, in addition to whatever was going on with his back.
For Dallas, wouldn't surprise me a bit if DS plays and plays well. Remember, same dude was a starter when the Wizards went something like 23-8 for a stretch, back in 2007. He HAS frustrated Cleveland some in the past. He HAS hit big shots (did against Miam). He CAN defend. Stevenson's not unlike Quinton Ross, and they do have a need for that kind of player in Dallas.
DeShawn's been horrible the past 18 months, but he's been a pro 10 years for a reason.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Re: Official Game Thread: DAL vs PHO 2/17/2010
Only problem I have with the above is that even at his best, DS was never that
good. A decent role player perhaps, but at SG, as you and others have well
pointed out, players like him (or better) are a dime a dozen. And I also believe
that when a player stinks that bad at offense, many begin to overrate their
D under the assumption that they must be good at something. I was never
that blown away by his D. He was a consistent rotation player on some
horrible defensive Wizard teams.

He had that same hunched down, arms flexed wide, line-in-the-sand stance for everyone he covered, often to the amusement of the person he was covering. He wasn't that fast with his hands or his feet, wasn't really the smartest player, and sometimes he over-covered, not realizing his man was about to easily pass out of coverage or fool him and blow by. Still, he fought hard to stay with his man, fought through screens, and successfully harassed a lot of good scorers. On a team of non-defenders, he really did stand out, more for his effort than for his natural ability. Many good defenders are more effort and focus than amazing natural talent, and I've always admired players that seemed to play above their abilities (like big Wes). DS can still be a good role player in Dallas.

Re: Official Game Thread: DAL vs PHO 2/17/2010
Caron's been twice traded before this. Things worked out well in Washington, and he's gotta be happy to be going to a team with Dirk, Shawn Marion, and Jason Kidd on it. He's going to get open shots and he'll be able to pass to Dirk at any time and Marion at the hoop. He's got speedy, scoring guards like Terry and Beaubois. He should be so happy to be going to a team that is well coached, will certainly make the playoffs, and has a chance to win it all. There's no pressure on Caron at all with all that talent, but he can certainly make that team better.
I would say that Brendan probably didn't get asked any questions and that DS knows they really had to be convinced to take him. For Haywood, he had 9 years as a Wizard. He must have asked to be traded. But that picture sure does make it look like only one guy's happy with the deal. (I'd think the other two would be, too.)
One other thing I notice is Caron's the only one who's already got his Mavs blue game jersey, I bet with his name on the back.

Naw, it's just a practice jersey.
