Camby to Portland likley

Post#1 » by HolyToledo » Tue Feb 16, 2010 2:47 am

Haywood to Dallas and now looks like Camby to Portland so the west is improving except the Jazz.
Basically, Camby for Outlaw and Blake (and might be forced to take Telfair)

Provides the Blazers a shot to compete in west if Roy comes back. Makes the Blazers much more dangerous.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

No it doesn't. Camby isn't a very good player. You just see that he is big and long and can jump, you don't see that teams aren't all that improved when he plays for them. That's why he's always on the move.

He can swap stories about growing up in the 70s with Juwan Howard.

denver liked and he liked denver but denver did a salary dump and now want him back. He is a very good rebounder which is what the Blazers truly need. He is a defensive presence.

Camby >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Juwan Howard thus they do improve alot.

There is no question this makes them better. The real question is, HOW much better? Not a whole lot. But they definitely didn't get worse.

After reading this: http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_ ... and-abbott

I think I have to agree with HolyToledo that the Jazz FO really dropped the ball on not pursuing Camby. The Blazers just traded EXPIRING CONTRACTS and cash for him. Are you telling me the Jazz couldn't beat that offer?

oh my... I just read about it too.. we could have EASILY offered a better deal :o

I mean it could have helped us, been a short trial period..his defense really could have helped us out in the playoffs... he was expiring so if it didnt' work out so what..he walks we have cap room.. grrr..

Now portland and dallas are better. Great.

Eh maybe... maybe not I dunno..he rebounds and fills a need for them.

That was pretty much a dump trade by the clippers and oddly he was one of their best players.. insane trade. Glad i'm not a Clipper fan.

Arnovitz: Camby is one of those guys who polarizes basketball junkies. Some think he's one of the game's best defenders. Some think that he's completely overrated as a defender and point to his pick-and-roll defense as evidence. (He has a tendency to drop back on virtually every screen.) After watching him closely for a couple of seasons, I now fall into the first camp: He's tremendously effective. The Clippers were 7.7 points per 100 possessions better with Camby on the floor. He leads the league in rebounding rate. He's also a good facilitator in the high-low game, and leads power forwards (his nominal position as a Clipper alongside Chris Kaman) in assist rate. The kids in the locker room look up to him and the coaching staff thinks he hangs the moon.

Practice would be hell on Camby if he was traded to the Jazz.

This helps Portland win a couple more games, but certainly won't make them a division leader. I think Camby will work for them, but wouldn't have here. I am not sold on him working in our system. I could be wrong, but it doesn't matter. There will be better deals to be had, maybe not by Thursday, but they will be there sometime.

Word is, South Beach is ecstatic that they
won't be seeing Millsaps talents again this season...
