SI: McGrady to Knicks deal being finalized

The New York Knicks are finalizing a deal that would send Jordan Hill, Larry Hughes and Jared Jeffries to Houston for Tracy McGrady

The deal includes swapping the Knicks-Rockets first round picks and New York sending their 2012 first rounder to Houston.

Hughes instead of Harrington. Possible protection on picks. A little less excited about this deal.

The deal is
Hills, Jefferies, Hughes, 2012 1st rd pick (might have protection) for TMac + rockets has the right to swap 2011 1st rd picks

No more 2010 2nd rd pick and 2012 pick is protected. Not as exciting as what was initially leaked.

I hope they do get more. Chris Paul would be great. The Rockets don't have a chance to be big time free agent players this season anyway even if they dump salary.

This deal is not done yet by the way. All the twitter insiders say that the Rockets will still decide between the Bulls and Knicks tomorrow. That being said, it looks like it will be the Knicks.

It means the Knicks keep their pick if they end up with a bad record. Which means the Rockets won't be able to touch the pick for several years.

Probably the best we could do. Poorly handled situation. Fitting end. If the Knicks get LeBron the 2012 pick would be moot. Hopefully if this one is protected..its top 3 and if by some stretch they get the 4th or 5th we still have the chance to get a cornerstone player. Knowing that good ol Rocket luck though McGrady will lead them to the playoffs and the pick will be mid-first round.

The words on the street is that Rockets is waiting for the level of protection Knicks wants before deciding the offers between Knicks and Bulls

Based on the info so far, Bull's offer seem to be Millers + T.Tomas+fillers. No sure about picks.

Probably no picks of substance b/c we get proven players in the return. I would take the Knick deal...if the pick is lotto protected then no...but if its top 3 or top 5 I could live with a top 10 pick.
