If by some miracle we ended up with either of these combos at the end of draft night:

Wall/Favors

Wall/Turner

I would pee my pants and restore my faith in our future. I know that will be very tough. This is a good draft, but I honestly am not interested in anyone outside of Wall, Favors and Turner. I see potential in a lot of other guys, but those 3 appear to be most "contribution ready."

If a guy like Johnson/Davis/Favors drops maybe we can do a 2 for 1 and jump up and grab one of them.

Thats the best case senerio/most realistic senerio for me. I just don't see us making a huge splash for Amare/Butler/Martin or someone like that.

I totally agree with you. I wouldnt mind going after Monroe. He is the versatile PF I would love to see next to Lopez. He can rebound, shoot, and the guy can pass.

I would love, LOVE to be able to grab Monroe too. Perfect fit next to Brook, his passing would be huge for us and his overall play would be an upgrade over Yi, IMO. I would trade Yi for the pick that lands Monroe, if it doesn't drop to the Dallas pick.

I would not mind a line-up of this at all if we get the #2
Harris
Turner
Gay
Monroe
Lopez

Oh ya. Barring any trades, Dallas will not make the playoffs... I'm calling it.
Especially if that 3-way with Houston, Washington and New York goes down where Houston grabs Haywood and Butler for TMac

I can't see any of our bit players (CDR, Dooling, Lee, Yi, etc.) fetching a potential lottery pick, regardless of how many of them are grouped together in one deal.

What's the deal with Dooling for 2011? How's he in the plan?

This is just my opinion but I don't think the team is going to use all of their cap space this offseason.

They'll probably make a serious run at Rudy Gay maybe give a look to David Lee but after those two the Nets will most likely look to sign a handful of lesser salaried players like Anthony Morrow.

Long story short because of what I wrote above I have a feeling that Dooling won't get waived and will be with the team next year.

Wouldn't be the worst idea keeping Dooling with his contract flexibility. He could fetch a pick perhaps.

There should be some options, the roster is just so damn barren that trades are almost not even worth mentioning. The Wizards and Nets may take on contracts even for picks.

Yeah that's another reason why I don't think they'll use all their cap space, OKC has made quite a few good trades by using their cap space to acquire crappy contracts and draft picks just to get high salaried teams out of the luxury tax.

Like some other posters have said I just don't want to break the bank for "okay" players like Detroit did. If no one wants to sign here (and rightfully so given this hellish season) then I'm all for packaging some of the young guys and that cap space for a REAL difference maker.

Wall and Turner can help this team right away... As for Favors, im really not sure about him, he is a project and because of that, i'll prolly pass on this guy. With all the things going on right now... The move to BK, cap space, draft picks, new owner, and all we end up getting is Favors, i will become an angry fan and may never renew my season tickets although i dont get to use all of them anyways.

This might seem nutty, but I'm starting to think you decline the option even if you want him back. I know it's unlikely, but even the remote chance of having are FA flexibility compromised (say getting Lee + Gay, let alone a LeBron+) by Dooling's contract makes me cringe a bit.

Also, while it is risky, considering the looming threat or a lockout and how many teams are losing money, is it unfathomable that you can decline Dooling's option and then re-sign him for less than what the option would cost?

After all the Amar'e stuff a couple weeks ago, things sure got quiet.

I honestly think NJ makes at least one deal before the deadline. I don't think it's going to be anything major, but there are a few cheap expiring vets that could help a team off the bench and NJ still has a TE (about $1.4 million) and an open roster spot to do a luxury tax move like they did earlier with Chris
Quinn.

I haven't crunched the #'s but I read somewhere that the Wizards are still in the luxury tax so I think a small deal with them could be beneficial for both teams...

edit:

Actually on second glance if I'm computing this right due to the way suspended players count against the luxury tax the Wizards are under the salary cap...

I think a simple trade of:

Hassell for Morrison + 2010 Memphis 2nd Rounder (or 2011 New York 2nd Rounder)

Makes sense though.

I wonder if we could get Roger Mason for Hayes and Boone or Dooling?

A deal involving Ammo/Hassell was one of the first things that came to mind for me as well since the Lakers don't seem willing to take on money to improve their roster right now.

Also, this might be wishful thinking, but if you packaged some combo of Dooling, Hayes and Boone with some minor lux tax relief (also have a $1.4 mil TPE) can you land another 1st rounder?

I'm also a lot more open to idea of trading CDR or Lee if you can get fair value (which is probably a pick in the 20-25 range). I wonder if shipping a young guy out my send the needed statement that potential and youth doesn't give you free reign to be a knucklehead and/or play selfishly.

Looking at the proposed Knicks - Rockets trade got me thinking.
Would anyone here be willing to do something based around

I personally wouldn't since this draft is full of PF.

At the very least I'd wait until the offseason to even consider that deal since we'll know when the Nets are drafting by then.

POB has never been in a team's rotation. That should tell you something about his talent level.

His comments on that site similar to Twitter were pure comedic gold though. :)

I am not sure if anyone has suggested this before and I am too lazy to go look it up.

I am officially a Turner fan.

If we land the #1 pick and the T-wolves get the #2 pick. I am all for trading Wall for Turner(#2) and the Bobcats pick which the Twolves have. I know that pick is protected. This this can happen I would take Monroe with that pick. If we have to sweeten the pick I am willing to throw in Our Mavs pick or a future first rounder.

Line up

Turner
Harris
Twill
Monroe
Lopez
SIC

Return to Brooklyn Nets
