Re: How Can Wizard Fans Protest?
wow, i feel sorry for you guys. After the Mavs and Cavs trades, you're basically doomed to years of failure now. I'm afraid no quality free agents will go there either. Hope it doesn't take a decade to get good again.
Good luck, guys.
Good luck, guys.

It is basically a 2nd, but getting the Cleveland pick is better than nothing. The Jamison deal had to happen. I think giving Jamison a shot at a championship is worth something.

I think that late first could turn out to be a great player this season.
I like that Ernie bought out Gooden, and he won't be stealing minutes from Blatche/McGee.
I love that Jamison's deal sent him to a winner and returned a draft pick.
I don't hate Ernie's work any more.
I'm actually pleasantly surprised .... Rico.
Yes, he could have gotten more. However, I think this will work out, particularly the rest of this season. Young guys are going to surprise and be a fun group to watch. Flip has no favorites left. The new guys Singleton, Howard, and Ross are athletic and they defend.
Now the Wizards will be harder to defend because certain players won't be stopping the ball or putting up a quota of shots without passing or early in the shot clock.
No protest from me. I'm done. Things looked HORRIBLE yesterday. Now, they look decent.
Ernie, I apologize.

Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Your a funny dude CCJ. Passionate no doubt but still funny ...

So I see your putting your torches and pitch forks away.

Now, if only Ernie could give himself the pink slip, the deconstruction will be complete.

See!
And fingers crossed that some of these expirings can be turned into something worthwhile tomorrow. I don't think Ernie's exactly cutting edge, but he's a pro, and he's given us some of the most entertaining teams (by far) this franchise has ever known, and he's not half-stepping this rebuilding effort. Honestly, I'd prefer somebody more progressive to lead the rebuilding, but we could definitely do worse.
(Sorry about the name-calling, CCJ, and everybody else. I hope you know I love you.)

I have no interest really other than as a Jordan Hill/Gilbert Arenas fan, but why not something like: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... Id=yh6qjjd
Wizards save some money, take Jefferies for a year, and pick up Hill for doing it. Knicks get a better deal than they would from the Rockets. Also has the added benefit of giving the Knicks room to pick up two max players and possibly steal Lebron from the Cavs.

Now it makes sense why EG couldn't pry away Landry as he was part of a deal to acquire Kevin Martin.

Re: No Protest -- At Least EG Blew it Up
I had a thought about why the Jamsion/Cavs deal took so long. I don't think include the Clippers was terribly complicated. The Cavs debate/pursuit of Amare is a factor, but the Jamison/Big Z deal had been talked about far before they seemed to be interested in Amare.
Maybe the Cavs were afraid that the Wizards would be tempted to include Z in a Butler/Haywood deal. If the Wizards had big Z when they were talking to Dallas, they probably could have traded him to Dallas for Dampier.

Re: No Protest -- At Least EG Blew it Up
So now that Ernie has cleaned house and saved the Pollin's millions this year in lux tax payments, what becomes of Gilbert Arenas? Is Ernie still deadset on getting him out of town? Right now he's sitting on a nice piece of cap room, a former All-Star who showed he's still a high-level player, and some nice draft picks. If you're going to rebuild, that's a pretty good foundation to start from one would think.
I think he'll try and mend things with Gil, but try to move him earnerstly over the summer and into next year. Unless the team can lure one of the big 3 FAs to Washington (which won't happen, but hey we did lure Gilbert himself here), I wouldn't spend any cash on 2nd tier free agents, especially with a lockout looming in 2011.

The official line is that Gilbert will be back.

Ernie came out and said yesterday - If Gil wants to play next season, it's gonna be with the Wizards. So yeah, at least right now - the assumption should be that Gil will return as a Wiz. Of course, the team's soon to be owner is going to have some say. I'm just speculating, but maybe Irene Pollin gave Ernie and Ted the go-ahead to discuss what Ted wants to do about Gil - and Ted gave Ernie the go-ahead to tell the media that the Wiz expect Gil back.

EGs comments were a little more explicit, but I think Ted's comments regarding Arenas indicated Ted would welcome Arenas back to the team.

Re: No Protest -- At Least EG Blew it Up
From MLee's chat today
Woodbridge, Va.: What do you make of Ernie stating that Gilbert was coming back. I found the whole thing interesting.
Michael Lee: To me, it read like the first round of buyout negotiations. Arenas has told people that he doesn't want to play for Grunfeld anymore. Well, Grunfeld is letting Arenas know that the Wizards own his rights, so if he wants to play, he doesn't control of where of he plays - unless he is willing to give back a lot of money for his freedom.
I could be way off. I've talked to people around the league who have told me that Arenas is going to be back. And I've talked to others who think that Arenas played his last game as a Wizard on Jan. 5 in Philadelphia. We'll see.
