I think if you're Miami, you take best player available, and then reassess once you have that player locked up. For example, if that just happens to be a Chris Bosh... you sign him, maybe try Beas some at small forward or Bosh at center, and if it doesn't look like its gonna work, then you package Beas for something that fits better.

And again, Heat fans, please stop acting like cocky **** on the Suns board, be respectful. Think about how you feel when the Raptors fans do it to us on our board.

I just don't buy it..Bosh loves Miami (city) and spends many off seasons there, also the chance to play with Wade is hard to pass up and you can see Bosh feeling like the odd man out when most players live in the States, as bad as that sound, there is nowhere like home, even for a basketball player. and history has shown that in regards of US players in Canada

So Riley and Wade are content on being 1 and done this year if their main goal is to get Bosh this summer?

All those teams are better then a Miami with Wade and amare cause you have no talent around them

Talent will follow, it always does, but that is the main reason Riley is trying not to offer Beasley, becuse Beasley is a potential star at a cheaper price and Miami will need another star aside Wade and top FA ..... role players are a dime a dozen. and they always chose a team with stars, it is job security in a sense.

Maybe the problem is you can't sign Wade until you show him your bring in a star but your first priority needs to be Wade...by then he will have explored free agency and maybe even convinced to go to new york

That and don't be so sure amare goes to Miami even if we doesn't come back here, he changes his mind a lot and it will always be about the money for stat so if a team like new Jersey, or Chicago shows it before you he's going there

And of all the big free agents I'd say Wade is most likely to leave given his comments this year

Risensun wrote:I agree that everything he's said hasn't been perfect but you have to remember that Amare is representing himself and trying to get whats best for him. Especially when it comes to contract extensions. Kerr and Sarver on the other hand are supposed to represent the Phoenix Suns(Unfortunately). I don't think Amare has said alot which would hurt his personal value. Kerr and Sarver however have, such as not immediately going out and telling the media that Amare wasn't being shipped.

Even if you are trying to get rid of someone you don't telegraph a fire sale. If so all you'll end up is with crap offers. If the FO was smart they would have called Amare today and had him sign an extension. Then they would have all the leverage to trade or not trade him tomorrow.

He hasn't hurt his value, but has significantly lowered our leverage and thus our bargaining power. A smart FO would tell him to be quiet or tell him to say all the right things. So while it's not entirely his fault since he's trying to raise his value, it certainly doesn't help him either if he puts us in a situation where we're trying to "negotiate" a deal with our hands tied behind our backs. It limits our options and as a result, limits his.

Kerr really blew this golden opportunity. We could've had Beas but our FO was too stupid and too short-sighted to see his potential. If there was anyone in any of the proposed deals that had the potential to be 3/4 of what Amare is, it was Beas. The smartest thing to do is to sign him to a reasonable extension now if we don't get a deal done by tomorrow. Give him 18mil a year or whatever and then try to deal him in the off-season. Maybe things will turn around in the off-season and we trade JRich for some decent role players and we get back into the playoff picture with Amare being our guy.

Toronto can offer the most money and the fact that they haven't even listened to proposals means they'll go overboard to keep him. I think he stays there.

It's all speculation. You think he'll stay, I think he'll go. We'll see.

There's still a good chance we extend him before the summer and trade him then.

As ridiculous as this sounds, Riley has LBJ as the very first attempt ( pipe dream I lknow) then the likes of Amare/Bosh will follow and Beasley might be trade for a top 2 tier player, but Beasley has shown that he can play out in perimeter and he can drive in at will..see tonight , he needed to be double team and still was unstoppable in 33 minutes and without the plays being called for him..he is that type of a player and I think Riley is testing how he would perform as the third option .. so far he's answered

What point would there be in that?

I wouldn't pay Lou more than 2 million a year, even if he's a fan favorite.

To get something rather than nothing?

I don't think Amare will try to screw the Suns, so if the Suns ask him to do a sign and trade, I think he'd agree.

since I'm pretty much an a-hole
If we can't get rid of him, we should:
1. re-sign Amar'e to a max and go "IN YO FACE"
2. refuse all sign and trades unless good talents are received in return (highly doubt this will work on MIA though  )

I'll try my best to make this a lose-lose situation, since we're losing him anyway, right? :P

I'm not sure why you guys think we will sign him and THEN trade him. If we sign him, especially if it's in the next month or so, we're keeping him. A sign and trade in the summer is a possibility but that'll be a max deal not just an extension.
