David Carr!

I saw this on the General board and figured it'd be nice to have a more Panther-oriented discussion about it too:

I love this signing. (Well, provided "a two-year contract" isn't for that much.) He's a talented young QB who just didn't have the protection, and now he will. He'll be able to get used to Carolina while Delhomme's still good too and then take over later.

Thoughts?

I think it's a very good move. He's an experienced starter and he's got a similar style to Jake, except he is a little faster.

I know Carr's people believed CAR gave them the best shot at giving him an honest chance to prove himself and win the starting job, if not in 07 than certainly in 08 (Jake's walk year, BTW).

Don't think this precludes the Panthers from spending a 2nd-4th round pick on a QB, if one they like is there. I know they've had intense interest in Drew Stanton and John Beck. But this signing does put less of an imperative on the position if another need (WR, S, LB, OL) with higher value is still around.

Low risk high reward pickup for you guys. I don't have much nice to say about the guy though. 2 things off the top of my head, he is a physically tough man. He can take a pounding and get back up. He is also more mobile than most people know. He is very good at running for positive yardage.

Love the Carr pickup! Late blooming QB. He just needed a change of scenery and a chance to look down the field for longer than a second before getting floored. :D :D

Guess you were right, oh well.

Guess which two teams now have the same record.
