Shaquille 5 5 42.6 .631 .000 .491 3.00 7.80 10.80 1.6 .40 .60 2.80 4.40 26.6

I love Kobe today, but back then i hated his guts and this finals sealed the deal as to why, his stats:

Kobe 5 5 46.2 .381 .174 .920 .40 2.40 2.80 4.4 1.80 .60 3.60 3.00 22.6

Aint revisionist history great. Also shaq went on to have 2 very productive seasons with the heat, and could have had back to back titles if wade and himself didnt play injured against the pistons in 05. If i was shaq i would have acted the same way. Kobe wasnt playing basketball the right way in those days. He was goin one on 5 all the damn time. Kobe plays today the way lebron played since he entered the league, the right way.

+1

Shaq had at least 4-5 more dominant years if he stayed at the Lakers, just look at how he took the heat to the chapionship after he left. The lakers would probably still have done the threepeat if shaq was there and Kobe wasn't. You have to wonder why every team shaq left during his dominant years produced an NBA superstar re Penny, kobe and wade. He gave them the ability to develop the necessary tools. Without Shaq there would never have been a Kobe, Wade or Penny. They would still have been good players but not superstars.

Not really seeing anyone here blaming Shaq for directly losing the Finals that year. But I have plenty of moments where I see Kobe as a bitch. I can remember Kobe not playing to his level or team ball against the Pistons too. Also I blame Malone's injury. I blame the Lakers and the training staff for maliciously treating Malone's injury.

Yeah, if Shaq and Kobe came back, maybe. But if Shaq, Kobe, Malone, and even Gary Payton all came back "healthy" for another run, I would like to have seen it for another year.

But for the fact that Malone got injured badly for the first time in his career, Kobe had a chance to sign somewhere else, Shaq having another two years left to compete for the title (like he did in Miami), the Lakers obviously made the best choice in keeping Kobe.

Kobe and Shaq both have a ring without each other. Both still have a chance to compete for a ring but Kobe is still the alpha male while Shaq is Robin to Lebron's Batman. In fact, Shaq is more like Batgirl as Shaq's a role player instead of a sidekick.

Either choice probably would have been right. I just think the Lakers made the better choice and gambled on Kobe at the time. When its all over with, I do see the Lakers retiring Shaq's 34.
