Dallards Unified Game/Team Thread 4-2 GAME OVER

Post#1 » by hands11 » Thu Feb 18, 2010 3:52 am

With our season in the can and two of our well liked player gone to a winning franchise, I assume we will have a lot of interest in tracking and talking about them and what I kind of feel is a shared team. Something more deserving than the tracking former Wizards thread has to offer.

I could even see some fan wanting to strike up a game thread and get back to some live chats. Maybe some will just join the Dallas thread to do that.

Just wanted to give us to place to track the new Dallards who will likely be the team of lot of us cheer for into the playoffs.

Majority of Mavericks fans = Cowboys fans.

BUT I want Haywood to get a ring and Haywood > Cowturd fans so go Dallas.

Dallas having the Haywood experience.

Haywood is on the bench and Dallas has no D - LOL. Did we trade EFJ there also?

And Dampier suddenly out indefinitely. Haywood, Nowitzki and Najera is their depth of bigs. Imagine if they didn't get Haywood.

Mavs rolling, but nobody was very good at keeping Amare's from scoring.

"On a team like this where the guys really understand basketball...where the true objective is just to win. Its just a great situation and I'm really loving it already and I'm only two games in." Butler with Skin after the game tonight.

Haywood post game interview

"I don't think I've ever been on a team that held the Suns under 100"

"It felt good to give a good defensive effort."

Q: How easy does JKidd make it?
A: Oh my goodness...I've never had it THIS good. I've never played with a pass first pg"

Wizards won without either player. I enjoyed McGee's 5 blocks (didn't see the game) in 23 minutes. Great to see a team where Butler didn't lose games playing hero ball.

Glad they're happy. I am, too.

That team that understands basketball has to beat the Lakers, or they'll feast on each other soon enough.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Wow guys. I gotta say I'm very impressed with Haywood. He's just a stud defensively. And it's a nice change on the offensive end when you have a center that can catch and just flush it right away. He's gonna thrive with Kidd. I knew he was good before he came to Dallas, but it seems like I didn't appreciate him that much back then. Now I understand why all you guys hate seeing him go. Albeit it's only two games, but it's showing signs.

I actually have no problem with the "true" cowboy fans that display loyalty to the local teams. It's the fake front-running, all-hype, low IQ Cowboy fans from all over the country that I have issues with. Can't tell you how many Cowboys, Yankees, Lakers, UNC fans we have around here.

Ligatsa, Haywood is probably one of the most underappreciated players in the league. I expect that'll end if he gets good run during the playoffs...

I can see how that becomes. You won't really know how good he is until you watch him closely. Before, whenever we play the WIz and a Mavs player miss a shot against Haywood, I thought it's just a miss shot and Haywood doesn't have a factor in it. Boy could I be more wrong

The Mavericks are getting from him what he was giving the Wizards every night this season. He won't get 5 blocks every night but an average of 2 or 2.5 is expected. His weakness is handling the ball inside, but hopefully he is mainly spoonfed by Kidd.

It's sad that it takes a trade for the media and other people, fans, etc to realize how good guys like Haywood and Jamison are, and will be for their teams.

I agree with you sir, I hate those Cowboys fans too, but the Cowboys hav'nt won jack shite' the past decade or so, so some of those are now Steeler fans, but they are irritating none the less.

Exactly. Haywood causes a TON of misses. Go look at his stats on 82games.com. In every year of his career, he has a dramatic negative influence on opponent FG%. Teams just can't make shots when Haywood is on the floor. It's that simple. Haywood may not block all the shots himself, but he get a hand in guys faces and makes them take bad shots.

It is ironic that Haywood does so well protecting the paint and he could not get the starting job he deserved when EJ was the coach.

His offensive moves look bad, real bad, but his up and under moves in the paint look solid, he is a quick finisher it seems. I cant wait to get Damp back, our defense at the 5 will be solid.

His power dunks are great, but his 'finesse' moves are well....let's just not get into it.

But that's not even the point, he does everything to help the team while he's out there. It's really as a foil, as the guy who prevents the other team from 'doing', that indirect effect, that he completely crushes out there.

To that end, while on 82 games, look at the team rebounding percentages while he's on the floor. He doesn't grab a huge number of defensive boards himself, but he's HUGE for team rebounding on both ends.

He's ten times the player that Butler is at this point as your honeymoon period will only turn into a happy marriage consummated by a five year $40 million dollar deal that no Dallas fan who's paying attention will blink at.
