Re: Ferry is a god
We really didnt even give up either Joe Smith or Z either as both (assuming in Z's case) returned to the Cavs after the trades.
He's made some other killer moves in his time here:
-Lee Nailon for a second round pick that turned into Boobie Gibson
-Tony Battie for Drew Gooden and Anderson Varejao
-All of the contracts he has signed people to have been team friendly (yes even Varejao's)
This guy kills fools in trades.

How has Danny Ferry not been thrown in jail yet?

What's funny is that Ferry has pretty much accomplished exactly what Isiah and the Knicks attempted to do. Use their capspace to bring in talent.

Ferry's done a good job but Gilbert's pocketbook has also been a big factor.
BTW, Bmac, it was Paxson that made the trade for Varejao after he lost Boozer.

Re: Ferry is a god
Danny Ferry had to get a deal done. I have been very critical of a lot of Ferry's move, but this is a home run Cavs fans. If Big Z comes back to Cleveland, you gave up nothing to get a #2 guy. No one should be upset that we did not get Amare because the Jamison move was better for the present and the future. That the Cavs did not have to give up JJ Hickson is huge. This team just got so much more versatile offensively and defensively.
For tonight, celebrate Cleveland. There is plenty to feel good about. GO CAVS!!

Re: Ferry is a god
When it comes to trades, Ferry is a machine. He also seems pretty solid at drafts - Hickson at #18, Gibson in the 2nd round, Green in the 2nd round, even Shannon Brown has proven to be a solid player. Eyenga also looked like a decent prospect in summer league.
He is a little generous with contracts/free-agents, but that is really my only criticism of him.

Yeah, that's really too bad, especially when Hughes was his first move...like two years after Boozergate.
Let's see what he does without James..

Easy to make just about any team or player look good when 'Bron is on your team. If/when he bolts to NY with another major player, it's game over for the Cavs and any other team in the East for the next 6-8 years. THAT'S when Ferry will earn his money......
