Info on Carl Landry from a Rockets fan
Congrats, guys. You got quite a steal in Landry. I don't know what the Rockets front office is thinking, trading away a great frontcourt player on a cheap contract for expirings. But Landry is a great offensive player to have. He's a tad undersized, but more than makes up for it in athleticism, intensity, and overall basketball IQ. While he's not a player who can consistently back down someone in the post, he's very good at moving and creating offense without the ball. He made Aaron Brooks look like a great passer by consistently cutting to the basket for layups. He's aggressive, and is not afraid to dunk the ball even when surrounded by shotblockers. He also has a reliable 15 ft jumpshot to keep defenses honest. Since you guys already have Thompson, Landry will be able to play the same way he did with the Rockets: use up as much energy in relatively limited minutes. Even if his play is lackluster in the first 3 quarters, he'll explode in the fourth quarter. That is always a given. Think of him as a smaller Amare Stoudemire but with heart.
On defense, he's no shutdown defender, but he's a scrapper, taking charges and gathering weakside blocks. He's not a great rebounder, but he'll crash the boards. Have fun with him.
Also, what kind of info can you give me on Rodriguez, Thomas, and Armstrong? Are they as useless as they seem? I remember Thomas when he was a Rocket, but am sure that he's lost everything that made him good.

If Amare was tougher and 2 inches shorter, he'll be Carl Landry.

Armstrong and Thomas are garbage.
Sergio has potential and will be a great backup to Brooks. I actually liked him a lot and am bummed to see him go. Sometimes a bit inconsistent but sometimes really amazing.

Well, the thing is that we already have Lowry as a backup to Brooks. And every time Lowry's been on the floor, the Rockets have been ridiculously better. I can't see Rodriguez doing anything for us. Maybe the Knicks will still be involved.
And how has Martin been this year? His stats suggest he's struggled, but he's been injured and has had to watch Evans take over as the man.

Sergio will be Lowry's backup aka 3rd string. Infact he may even be going to the Knicks...

Landry is awesome, you guys will love him. I felt he was the Rockets best offensive player this season, and has all the tools to be an all-star caliber sort of player.

Martin needed this. He will flourish under Adelman, and he will probably produce nearly 28 ppg for you guys down the road. Give him about two weeks. Dude's had a very rough stretch.

The trade was essentially Landry for Martin.. Fair trade.. Can't get anything if you're not willing to give up anything.. that's why I'm a terrible gambler..

landry is a great, tough hard working pf. Possibly our best and consistent offensive player on some days. His only flaw is that hes undersized. And gets stopped. But he makes up for it for toughness and tenacity. But he has trouble against taller all stars, and tall defenders.
I love landry, but getting kevin martin isn't that bad. He has the most beautiful shot in the league.

Landry is not only a good player but a great person. I saw him play high school ball in Milwaukee, at Purdue, and had the honor of watching him play his last game as a Rocket in his hometown, Milwaukee. Man I wish the Bucks had Landry. He's the man.

Re: Info on Carl Landry from a Rockets fan
As the other Rocket fans have said, Landry is like 6'8 Amare. If he's a couple of inches taller, he's a full-time starter. He'll make for a very good scorer off the bench for you guys. The pieces are coming together slowly but surely.
You guys seem to be going through a rough patch, but things are looking bright, with the play of Tyreke and Casspi (my favorites), the emergence of Greene and the development of Thompson and Hawes.

You guys are so lucky that Our GM is a Moron on par with Isaih Thomas. I don't know what Crack he was smoking when he pulled the trigger on this deal. You guys will love Landry. I hope he torches us everytime we play you maybe we might have a sniff of re-signing him when he becomes a F/A. I am so dirty on this deal, you should see my posts on the Rockets board. Landry will be an A/S one day. You just raped us, beat us, then sent a polaroid to commemorate the occasion.
Martin better play some seriously good ball, I couldn't give a stuff about the other players.

Ok...I know Landry is a solid player, but Rockets fan you make this trade look like Sacramento is a winner of it...give me a break...Kevin Martin is a steal for Houston for this package!!!

Landry nice, but seriously. This deal HEAVILY favors the Rockets. They got Martin for Landry without even having to take back Noc, Garcia or Beno. You got straight up EXPIRINGS with Martin. HOW? I still can't fathoms, HOW that happened. That's a straight up COUP as Martin is a fringe all-star level talent. If it was for a run of untimely injuries or a strong amount of HIGH CALIBER guards in the WC, Martin would be a perenniel all-star by now.
Martin WITH Yao next year is a SCARY duo. Cuz unlinke McGrady, Martin is an efficient, team player that can score in a multiplicity of ways and his range is outwards of 25 feet. With a great mid-range game, and an uncanny ability to cut and get to the basket. The Rockets look GOOD going forward. Landry's a VERY small price to pay to land Martin. I'm in utter shock that Nocioni didn't accompany Martin to Houston instead of Kenny Thomas. Just UNFATHOMABLE to me.

Martin has the fourth highest TS% out of all active NBA players; he is an extremely efficient shooting guard.

I actually think this is pretty fair trade. The Kings get a very underrated player in Carl Landry. I think he will become the full time starter for the Kings. I expect to see a lot more toughness with this team.

Re: Info on Carl Landry from a Rockets fan
It's a win-win trade for both teams. The Martin + Evans experiment obviously isn't working out so great, and this will give Tyreke and very capable young, developing running mate for the future. In addition, Sacramento gets to dump Martin's lengthy contract which adds some motivation for moving him.
The Rockets get the scorer they need. Landry has been having trouble being the go-to guy lately (constantly getting double-teamed), and in Sacramento he won't have to deal with that since Tyreke will be the focus of most teams. Landry's minutes would've been reduced with Yao coming back next season anyway, and Scola is the premier PF in Houston anyway.
The only issue now is Tracy McGrady being angry if he's not in New York.

Re: Info on Carl Landry from a Rockets fan
Still see alot of misconception about Landry's game.
Is Landry a good defender? Hard to say. People assume he's a good defender because he's on a good defensive team. Landry is an "ok" help defender, he tries hard but he's undersized as a defender against most 4s in the league. I would categorize his defense as average to slightly below average.
Is Landry a post up scorer? No. Carl Landry is strictly a face up guy. He doesn't score with his back to the basket and he's not a garbage point guy. The overwhelming majority of his points come from isolation play and pick and roll.
What else does Landry bring to the team besides scoring? Toughness and loads of Energy.
Landry's biggest strength is his ability to finish around the basket. Give Landry the basketball and he'll figure out a way to put the ball in the hole. His biggest weakness would be his size.
